Located in beautiful Potter County, PA, the town of Galeton was built during the heyday of the lumbering era, and at one time, this small town contained numerous lumber mills, a tannery, and all the accoutrements that went along with a boom town of the 1800's...taverns, an opera house, a hospital, brewery, and railroads.
Much of the town's lumbering heritage still is evident, in the area's architecture, remaining lumber-dependant industries, and in the vast tracts of forested land that surround the town.
Today, the town of Galeton is quaint and picturesque. A paradise for hunters and fishermen, the forests surrounding the town are a haven for whitetail deer, wild turkeys, squirrels, and grouse, while Pine Creek flows through the center of town! Galeton's many town festivals, Centertown Park, multiple churches, and modern school make the town a wonderful place for raising a family in a "small-town" atmosphere.
Nearby local landmarks are Denton Hill Ski Area, which features "the steepest slope in the east", the Grand Canyon of PA, and Lyman Run State Park. These areas are naturally beautiful, and contribute to the steady influx of tourists to our area, who arrive on scenic Route 6, the "Grand Army of the Republic Highway"

Fishing is always popular in Galeton. The streams and flood control lake provide a great habitat for trout. However, fishing directly below the dam, as in this older photo, is no longer allowed.
