July 18,1998 In Somerset,WI

I saw and met MxPx on July 18, 1998 in Somerset WI while Warped Tour was playing that one date with Ozzfest (does anyone remember that date?). I got to the stage where MxPx was playing probably forty minutes before they were to play. Why? Because I'm a nut like that and enjoyied seeing them set up. Yes, Yuri set up his drums, Tom tuned his guitar, and Mike made sure the mics were to the right height and the amps were plugged in right. The only problem with Mike checking the mic height is that Tom sings bg vox and is noticeably shorter than Mike and when Mike checked the mics, he had them set closer to his height, making Tom look a little funny... hehehe. Don't worry all you chicas that have crushes on Tom, he still looked amazing, with dark brown hair with pink tips in the front. The show was great. It almost sounded the same as the CD, even when it came to "Chick Magnet" at that part where Mike sings, but isn't singing words. I was there with my trusty camera taking pictures and the people around me were really nice, not like the crowd you run into at Queers shows or even the crowds at the Diesel Boy shows (both bands I've seen multiple times and had a poopie time because the punkers there are into the whole "I'm more punk than you" image). The cuties at MxPx's show were so sweet, one guy helped me get a really cool close up picture of Mike and warned me when a crowd surfer almost feel on my feet. The mosh pit was pretty darn cool too. Although I think po - going is a little trendy thanks to Clueless, I really wish the crowd would have po - goed more during "The Downfall Of Western Civilization" when they're doing the whole "Excuse me but you don't know me..." part. It just seems so right to do that then, but alas, the pit didn't think so. Maybe they were all too excited about Greg being up there playing his guitar part. Oh I also want to add that I hate security guards because they're poopie and stand up at dumb times blocking off the crowd's vantage point. Anyways, it was my first time seeing MxPx, and definately not my last. At the moment I am planning to see them at least five times next summer.
