this is my statement...PUNK not how big your clothing is, Not how much money you make, Not what you look like, but a point of view. Realizing that there is a lot of corrupt people in the world, and wanting to rebel against all those who feel they can oppress us with their ideals. It is knowing that everyone is only looking out for themselves and they will step on you if thats what it takes. It is about UNITY among us, a joining of people, stopping the racism and bigotry that plagues our society. I know that there are those who feel they are punker than this kind of philosophy because this philosophy is not as angry or might make punk sound soft. But that is not my goal here, this philosophy is nothing new, UNITY has been preached by every punk band out there. BUT it still confuses me when I see all of this internal hatred. In some instances it seems that PUNK has become a way to show how individual you are, and this insecurity is manifested in anger towards others in the same scene. If your having an identity crisis that's fine, (everybody has one) but you can at least respect the scene and the cause that guides it. Anyone who reads this will probably disagree BUT... I figure I'll say some other things I feel Punk is NOT: it is not a way to show people how tough you are, it is not a way to piss your parents off, it is not how much you hate alternative rock, it is not who hates sellouts the most, it is not the size of your tattoo, it is not how many piercings you have, It is not being angry all of the time. The "punk" movement struggles to exist in a time where no one is really, truly, standing up and changing things....BUT that is not what it is about to me anyway......trying to avoid apathy, trying to avoid just simply accepting the conventional societal norms that we are all fed by politicians, parents, religion.....BUT......I am not saying that any of these things are necessarily wrong, what I AM saying is that to just accept these things is wrong, we should make our own decisions and choose our own lifestyles, not because someone tells you to but because that is what you have found to be true through your own searching. This again may not be 100% "punk" but I feel it is the real force that drives any movement. I know you are probably getting tired of reading all of my philosophy BUT I figure that I could fill this page with nice graphics and real audio and band info, but that would just make this page identical to every other home page out there so I will just keep it basic and give my point of view....if you don't like it then no one is forcing you to stay.
