Drake Hogestyn--John Black

Drake Hogestyn was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He wanted to go to college to become a dentist. His passion is baseball, adn he was tapped by the St. Louis Cardinals after high school, but he attended college instead. He graduated from the University of Southern Florida in microbiology, and was drafted for the New York Yankees until he was sidelined by an injury in 1978.

At the same time, he was discovered by Josh Shelley, the runner of the Columbia Pictures national talent search program. He was among 30 who were finally chosen out of 75,000. He was then flew to Los Angeles, and decided to pursue an acting career.

His first starring role was in the series Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. He started Days in January of 1986.
