In July of 1948, Daisy Bryant, Beatrice Crawford, Elizabeth George, Ruth Johnson, Anna Marie Turnbot, Yvette Tyler and Thelma Vaughn chartered Beta Omicron as the Iota force in Philadelphia.
Since its chartering, Beta Omicron has continued to make an impact on Iota's history. Several chapter members have lent their expertise to the National body by serving in national offices. Including: Past National President - Soror Florence Madison Hill, Past Eastern Regional Director - Soror Beatrice Crawford, Past National Treasurer - Soror Mildred S. Keeys and Past National Secretary - Soror Lucille Precia
Today, Beta Omicron works hand in hand with the Philadelphia chapters of our affiliate organizations (NAACP, NCNW, UNCF) in achieving their goals.
The chapter also regularly supports Working Wardrobe (a non-profit organization that works "to address the marketability of economically disadvantaged women in Southeastern Pennsylvania who were striving to achieve economic self-sufficiency for themselves and their families") by holding annual clothing drives and assisting with workshops to aid women with their transition to today's workforce.
Beta Omicron also distributes annual scholarships to deserving business students.
