agency

  • Remember the world's shortest sermon found of traffic signs everywhere...Keep Right!

  • Life is like a ladder. Every step we take is either up or down.

  • It is not so much what a man is descended from that matters as what he will descend to.

  • The measure of man's real character is what he would do if he knew he would never be found out

  • For when the One Great Scorer comes,
    To write against your name,
He writes not that you lost or won,
But how you played the game.

  • Here was great statement (Joshua 24:15) of full commitment of a man to God ... He was telling the Israelites that regardless of how they decided, he would do what he knew was right. He was saying that his decision to serve the Lord was independent of whatever they decided; that their actions would not affect his; that his commitment to do the Lord’s will would not be altered by anything they or anyone else would do. Joshua was firmly in control of his actions and had his eyes fixed on the commandments of the Lord.

choose the Lord

  • And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
    Joshua 24:15

  • If you have not chosen the kingdom of God first, it will in the end make not difference what you have chosen"
    --- Neil A Maxwell
    Conference Report, April 1974

  • Say unto this people: Choose ye this day, to serve the Lord God who made you. Behold my Spirit is upon you, wherefore all thy words will I justify; and the mountains shall flee before you, and the rivers shall turn from their course; and thou shalt abide in me, and I in you; therefore walk with me. Moses 6:33

concequences

  • All are free to choose... we would not have it otherwise. Unfortunately ... when some choose slackness, they are choosing not only for themselves, but for the next generation and the next. Small equivocations in parents can produce large deviations in their children! Earlier generations in a family may have reflected dedication. Sadly, in the next, some may choose dissension as erosion takes its toll.
    --- Neal A Maxwell

  • Fear not to do good, my sons, for whatsoever ye sow, that shall ye also reap; for whatsoever ye sow, that shall ye reap; therefore, if ye sow good ye shall also reap good for your reward.
    DC 6:33

  • Our freedom to choose our course of conduct does not provide personal freedom from the consequences of our performances. God’s love for us is constant and will not diminish, but he cannot rescue us from the painful results that are cause by wrong choices.

decision

  • Then and there I invented this rule for myself to be applied to every decision I might have to make in the future. I would sort out all the arguments and see which belong to fear and which to creativeness, and other things being equal I would make the decision which had the larger number of creative reason on its side. I think it must be a rule something like this that makes jonquils and crocuses come pushing through the cold mud. --- Katharine Butler Hathaway

  • Accept the fact that only you can determine where you want to go and how you are going to get there. --- Terry Bowden

  • You will never leave where you are until you decide where you would rather be. It is better to be wrong part of the time than to be undecided all of the time. --- Anonymous

  • Indecision mars all success: there can be no good wind for the sailor who knows not to what part he is bound. --- Oliver Wendell Holmes

  • Decision is a sharp knife that cuts clean and straight; indecision is a dull one that hacks and tears and leaves ragged edges behind it. --- Anonymous

  • You seldom get what you go after unless you know in advance what you want. Indecision has often given an advantage to the other fellow because he did his thinking beforehand. --- Maurice Switzer

  • Indecision is fatal. It is better to make the wrong decision than build up a habit of indecision. If you're wallowing in indecision, you certainly can't act - and action is the basis of success. --- Marie Beynon Ray

  • There is no more miserable human than one in whom nothing is habitual but indecision. Full half the time of such a man goes to the deciding, or regretting, of matters which ought to be so ingrained in him as practically not to exist for his consciousness at all. ---- William James

  • Decide now that you're not going to be a consumer, or an onlooker, but a producer. Decide not to be a sheep, or a hireling, but a shepherd. --- Richard Stocking

doubt

  • When in doubt ... don’t.

  • If we are ever in doubt what to do, it is a good rule to ask ourselves what shall we wish on the morrow we had done.
    --- Sir John Lubbock

  • If you must doubt, doubt your doubts - never your beliefs.

shapes me

  • THE ROAD NOT TAKEN
    --- By Robert Frost
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
    To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
    Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

  • They tell me my pattern was cut before I was born and now I’ve got to run my fingers along a sharp-sheared, pin pricked world to find the edges -- But it’s not so, for I am my own tailor and I’m cutting myself out now.

  • Choices will be made in life -every passing day that will shape and mold your destiny somewhat like this ball of clay. Remember not to rely too much on your peers around you to tell you what choice fits your life. Ask God, He made your mold for you!
