Coir: Coconut mesocarp fiber. Relatively new material for use as a planting medium/amendment. It holds 70% its weight in water. Similar to peat moss yet does not require strip mining of our natural wetlands.

Rockwool: Also called glasswool. A spun mineral fiber. Looks much like building insulation.
