Guess I`ll start by telling you a bit about myself. As you can see I`m mother of 5, grandmother of 6, 4 beautiful girls and 2 handsome boys, and one darling great granddaughter. My Husband Tony and I live up in the Pocono Mountains, Pa. Moved up here almost 35 years ago, from New Jersey. Thought it would be a good place to raise the children, it proved to be true. Shortly thereafter my parents moved up, too. The place we bought was once a family resort, where we brought the kids on vacation. So, there was plenty of room for the family on 10 acres of land. My mother lives next door to me, and so does my son Jim his wife Tara and their daughter's Marissa Rose, Sofia Marie and Ava. Jim is a contractor, painting and building, took over my husband`s business several years ago. Son Stephen lives in back property, he`s a landscaper and youngest daughter Andrea, is a bar captain at the Glass bar in the Mount Airy Casino, lives in the area. Amy, is my oldest daughter, she has 3 kids, Tommy, Michael and Sally. My granddaughter Sally has gifted me with my first great grand child, Angelina, she is now 5 years old. Amy is a nurse, and works with handicapped adults. Her and Joe, have moved back here from Long Island, New York. Oldest son John lives with his wife Liz, in New Jersey. Me? Well in summer you`re apt to find me at every garage sale, flea market or junk store in the area.
Finding a piece of old China or some old books will make my day. I have really lucked out and found some beautiful treasures doing what I do. Another love of mine is books!
All kinds of books, for reading, collecting, etc. My niece Patrice Garfield is the author of two books, titles are "River Pines" and "Rone Daniels", wonderful stories about the old west. Patrice even used my father and me as two of the characters. What a kick that was! My father was a character in his own right, we lost him in 1996 at age 93......but I`ll save him for later. My favorite authors are, John Steinbeck, Ken Follett, Irving Stone. and James Michener. I read thrillers too, by Stephen King and Anne Rice. One of my all time favorites by Follett is, "Pillars of the Earth". Another great one is "Sarum" by Edward Rutherford. The book starts in pre-historic times, and comes to present day England.Fascinating. I.Stone is wonderful for his authentic novels, such as "Agony and the Ecstacy", about Michelangelo. My favorite Stone book is "Lust for Life", book about Vincent Van Gough. I could go on and on about books, but I think I`ll leave it for now.
How could I forget my love of Art. Specifically, the beautiful Impressionist's. Monet, Cezanne, Pissaro, of course my all time favorite, Pierre Auguste Renoir. The rich colors, the magnificent scenery's. I was lucky enough to see the real thing in the Museum of Modern Art. It was a special showing of all the great one's. It was wonderful.

My other love is travel.
Tony and I did most of our travel with my cousin Nancy and her husband Tim, affectionately known as "The Partners". We started traveling together in the 1980`s. Our first trip was on a house boat on the Thousand Islands in Canada. It was fun and relaxing as well. That`s where the tradition of playing trivia started, hence the name Partners! It has always been Tim & I, and Nancy and Tony! We have not lost a game to them yet!! Although they`ll tell you differently! We took the house boat trip more than once. I had already been to England, and spent some time there. I really fell in love with that part of the world. Guess it`s the antiquity. So, I asked The Partners to join us on a month`s tour of Europe.
The above photo was taken in 1990. We flew to England, then took a boat to Le Harve, France. From there we took trains to Paris, Salzburg, Venice, and Rome. It was and still is a vacation to remember. I still remember standing in front of the Eifel Tower in Paris, and thinking the kid from Lodi, N.J. made a dream come true. The trains were wonderful, comfy and intimate.
We even played trivia in our compartments. Sleeping on a train is as soothing as hearing rain in the night. The dining cars were fun, too. An especially wonderful sight, is getting out of the train station in Venice, and walking out onto The Grand Canal, another sight I won`t forget.
The other is walking into Saint Peters Basilica in Rome and seeing the Pieta for the first time. It is so breathtaking, it is almost impossible to describe. I`m not sure, but I believe it was Mark Twain who said it best:
"THE BEST SOUVENIR YOU COULD BRING BACK FROM A JOURNEY, IS THE MEMORY".
