NHLPA PLAYER BIO

Dan Cloutier was drafted 26th overall in the 1994 Entry Draft by the New York Rangers. He made his NHL debut three years later on January 3, 1998 against the Capitals and earned the win. By season's end, Dan had posted a 4-5-1 record with a 2.50 goals-against average. In 1998-99, Dan backed up Mike Richter full time and went 6-8-3 with a 3.68 GAA. On June 26, 1999, Dan was traded with Niklas Sundström and two draft picks to the Tampa Bay Lightning for a first-round draft pick. In his first season with the Lightning, Dan played 52 games and registered a 3.49 goals against average. After 24 games with the Lightning in 2000-01, Dan was traded to the Vancouver Canucks on February 7 for Adrian Aucoin and a second-round draft pick. In 16 games down the stretch with the Canucks, Dan went 4-6-5 with a 2.43 GAA and helped the team make the playoffs for the first time in five years.
