NHLPA PLAYER BIO

Manny Fernandez was originally drafted 52nd overall in the 1992 Entry Draft by the Québec Nordiques. On February 13, 1994, his rights were traded to the Dallas Stars for Tommy Sjödin and a third-round draft pick. During the shortened 1994-95 NHL season, Manny made his debut with the Stars (his only game that season) on April 1 in a 3-2 loss against the Red Wings. After playing five NHL games in 1995-96, Manny next played two NHL games in 1997-98 and won his first game on November 27 against the Coyotes. In 1999-2000, Manny joined the Stars full-time as Ed Belfour's goaltending partner and went 11-8-3 with a 2.14 goals-against average in 24 games. On February 16, Manny recorded his first shutout in a 3-0 win over the Predators. In the playoffs, Manny helped the Stars win the Clarence Campbell Bowl.

On June 12, 2000, Manny was traded with Brad Lukowich to the expansion Minnesota Wild for a pair of draft picks. In his first season with his new team, Manny shared goaltending duties with Jamie McLennan and went 19-17-4 in his 42 games. He posted a 2.24 GAA along with a 92.0 save percentage and four shutouts.
