TASK

How does pollution affect the environment? You are on a mission for the United Nations (UN) fact-finding committee on the environment.  The UN is looking for a variety of views on how pollution affects the environment.  They will be voting on implementing three new environmental protection laws for the world.

You will need to gather information and form an opinion, which you will bring back to the UN.  You will need to persuade others to believe in your opinion at the hearing. Your speech may sway the vote that will change the world!

UN Environmental Protection Laws To Be Voted On:

1)      All countries must change from using gas to another source of energy, which does not harm the environment, by the year 2002.  Any country found using gas as a source of energy after that date will be charged two million dollars a month.  This money will go to the UN to help clean up the world environment.

2)      All countries must stop using toxic pesticides by the year 2002. They must change to environmentally safe methods of keeping insects off their crops.  Any country found using pesticides after that date will be charged one million dollars a month.  This money will go to the UN to help clean up the world environment.
