Star Wars Pepsi Cans - Japanese

Queen Amadala (350ml) Anakin Skywalker (350ml) Obi Wan Kenobi (350ml) Jar Jar Binks (350ml) Darth Maul (350ml) R2D2 (350ml) Queen Amadala (500ml) Darth Maul (500ml) Anakin Skywalker (500ml) 350ml can back

By far my favorite, the Japanese cans are in full brilliant color on sturdy metal containers. Similar to the German collection, all cans are 350ml with the exception of three 500ml sized cans (Amadala, Maul, Anakin) and the special Gold C-3PO and R2-D2 (see below).

On each bottle or can of Pepsi is a Star Wars sticker. If you see the name of a SW character, you win a Star Wars character bottle cap. There is a slight consolation for those who lose often: five losing stickers get you a display stand for the bottle caps. (Rumors have it that the display stand is a little harder to get than just 5 stickers. 20,000 were produced)

C-3PO (500ml) GOLD! C-3PO (350ml) GOLD! R2-D2 (500ml) GOLD! R2-D2 (350ml) GOLD!

The "Get! C3-PO" & "Get! R2-D2" Promo Cans:
These four special cans were released in late 1999 for the new Millennium and were distributed to Japanese stores up to last month. Similar to the fist collection, these cans have a sticker contest called Get! 2000.
If you find this sticker, you win a talking C3PO cup-topper.
If you find this sticker, you win an R2-D2 can-holder.

The Threepio topper fits on the 500ml plastic bottles and talks when you take a drink from it. The Artoo can holder attaches to the 350ml Japanese can, and only the Japanese can, like so.
At this time, I'm unaware on how many of these cans or prizes were produced - although my sources tell me that the 500ml cans are the hardest to find because they were only sold in vending machines.

**NEWS** 03-05-00 10:03pm PST It appears that these cans have variants. Both the 350ml and the 500ml cans come with and without the large "2000 Celebration" lettering on the can. Could the "non-2000" cans be new releases? Thanks to SLam for the head's up. Visit his site to see if he has some of these variants for trade.

The "Get!! Battle Droid" Promo Cans:
While all other countries stopped producing Star Wars cans almost six months ago, Pespi Japan is still going strong! This new promotion, called Get!! Battle Droid, is timed for the video release of Episode One in Japan (April 7th). Unlike any other county in the world, the cans are designed to stack atop of each other to create a movie character.
On top of that (no pun intended), if you collect a certain amount of points, you can win some items worth having in anyone's Star Wars collection. The prizes are:

-Battle Droid Action Can Holder
-Battle Droid Can Cooler Box (MTT)

On each Pepsi Can, there is a peel away sticker which can reveal either a point sticker or a instant winner sticker. At this time, I'm unaware on how many of these cans or prizes were produced or how long the promotion will last.
