Asgard where formed in the summer of 2000 by members
Aidan Curran (guitar), Paul Murray (guitar), Ciaran Mooney (drums), Christopher
O'Hara (bass), and James Cramer (vocals).
Aidan, Paul, Ciaran, and Christopher had already known
each other from school and formed a band together with Denis Lyons. Mr. Egan had started it by bringing the
group together. They practiced together
for the Music For All in the school every Tuesday at break and it wasn't long
before they started sounding good. The
band broke up for a while after the Music For All and got back together when
they met James. He had written his own
material and was interested in joining a band as he was never in one
before. So they got together and tried
his songs and they knew they had something good, as some of the members said,
"from the moment we practiced the songs, every one seemed to know what to
play".
Since then, Asgard have recorded seven songs and have
played in such places as the Temple Bar Music Centre, Eamonn Doran's, and Isaac
Butt's. They also came 2nd in a Hot
Press competition in which they won free recording time.
