Former Fairbanks resident Theresa Jean Wells Clay, 45, left this world to go home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, May 5, 2004, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital in Lenoir, N.C. She died from complications of Lyme disease.

She was born on April 30, 1959, in Odessa, Texas.

Theresa was a mother, grandmother, homemaker and member of Flemings Chapel Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher, coordinator of the food pantry and the prayer ministry.

She is survived by her husband, Dennis Clay of Lenoir; daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Joe Pennell and their children, Te'a, Breana, and Caleb Pennell, all of Lenoir; daughter Sarah Clay of Hoboken, N.J.; son and daughter-in-law, John and Jackie Clay of Portsmouth, Va.; mother Beverley Roof of Fairbanks; father Lawrence Wells of Colorado; grandmother Marguerite Spear of Illinois; sister and brother-in-law Cynthia and Harold Osborne and children, Robert Roof and Jennifer Roof, all of North Pole; sister, Lela Roof of Ohio and her daughter, Crystal Morgan, of Fairbanks; brother and sister-in-law Anthoney and Alexis Roof and his daughter MaIeaha Roof of Fairbanks

A visitation and celebration of her life was held Friday, May 7, at Flemings Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Hugh Whitfield officiating. She was laid to rest at Flemings Church Cemetery.
