Paradise
Lost
Paradise Lost gives an answer to the question I just had: “If Satan was the serpent in Genesis and Lucifer is Satan, how can he be a serpent if he hadn’t fallen yet?” John Milton was nice enough to write about how it happened.
Paradise
Lost talks about the fall and demise of Lucifer. The epic starts in the
middle
of the action where Lucifer and his band of rebels decide to overthrow
God.
Why? Because the once charming and powerful angel’s head got too big.
His head
got so big that he was blinded by his ego to seek higher power and rule
Heaven.
Well, he was sadly mistaken when God threw him out like an
irresponsible
slacker kid in their twenties by their patience-challenged parents.
That drop
from Heaven was a long fall! I hate to be Lucifer and his
confused cult
of followers. Lucifer finds himself in a wasteland. Jealousy and hate
are all
that surround him. Even though he makes a kingdom out of it, Lucifer
still
wants more. Eventually, he becomes a serpent and then a toad.
Judging by Book I of this epic, this looks close to something we would write. In fact, Jasper wrote about how Lucifer fell for a myth on our web site. I really like this story.
