THEOSOPHY
Religion for the Spiritual~But~Not~Religious

What is Theosophy?

The name comes from two Greek words:

THEO=Divine and SOPHIA=Wisdom

Theosophy means "Divine Wisdom". It means the "Knowledge of the Divine". It means:

*The Divine Knowledge of the Spiritual Cosmos

Theosophy is not a "Church". It is not a "religion" like Christianity, or Buddhism, or Islaam. It is simply TRUTH.

Theosophy is simply the TRUTH about Reality; Divine Reality.

The Cosmos (All-That-Is) is divided into the Physical Universe and the Spiritual Reality:

COSMOS
The DIVINE (Light)/The UNIVERSE (Dark)

Science is TRUTH about the Material Cosmos we call the UNIVERSE.

Theosophy is the TRUTH about the Spiritual Cosmos we call the DIVINE.

A "religion" is a series of rites or rituals that humans use to try to supplicate or appease a god or godes or spirits in order to get Him (or them) to do what you want Him (or them) to do. Most people want the what is called "gain":

*Success
*Sex
*Health
*Divine Protection
*Healthy offspring
*Salvation from hell (fire) or samsara (wheel of rebirth) in the Afterlife

Religions act as a "way" to "get" those things from either God, or gods, or other superhuman personalities or principles.

Theosophy is not a "religion" in that it is a series of rites or rituals that seek to obtain from God or gods or divine beings or principles "gain".

Theosophy is simply the science of Divine Truth; as opposed to the science of physical Truth which we call "science.

Theosophy is the Science of the Divine, but it is NOT "Divine Science". It is not a church or a sect or a cult. It is simply the TRUTH ABOUT THE DIVINE; the Spiritual Cosmos.

Theosophy then is THE TRUTH about The Divine; the Spiritual Cosmos.

There is no Religion higher than the Truth. Therefore, Theosophy is the HIGHEST TRUTH when it comes to the Divine.

Theosophy and Christianity

Theosophy is NOT opposed to Christianity! Indeed, Theosophists believe everything that the Bible says! But Theosophists interpret the Bible differently than do the Christian churches.

Theosophists recognize Jesus as the Son of God Whom came to offer Himself as the final sacrifice for sin. He was born of a virgin. He was crucified and arose from the dead, and He ascended into heaven. He is the only Mediator between God and man.

But....

Theosophists would differ with Christians on the following points:

*Jesus was the Son of God, the WORD incarnate. But He was not the ONLY incarnation of the WORD. The Lamb of God incarnated 7 times; hence the symbol in the Book of Revelations of the 7horned/7eyed Lamb.

*Jesus was raised from the dead, but NOT in a physical body. The body that His disciples saw after death was Jesus' etheric body; not His physical body.

*One must accept Jesus to be saved, but one need not belong to a Christian church to be saved; nor identify oneself as an "Evangelical" Christian. The disciples of Jesus never referred to themselves as "Christians" yet were they not saved? Was anyone "saved" before Jesus was born?

Theosophists would also differ from Christians on the following points:

Reincarnation

Most Christian churches teach that one cannot be a Christian (or saved) if they believe in reincarnation. Theosophists believe in reincarnation; a doctrine found in Mystical Judaism (Kaballah).

Extrabiblical Prophets

Most Evangelical Christians teach that to be saved one CANNOT accept Prophets outside of the Bible (i.e. Zoroaster, Muhammad) or Avatars (i.e. Krishna, Buddha, etc.). Theosophists believe you can. The Magi (three wise men) who worshipped the baby Jesus were Zoroastrians. Were they not saved? Are they going to burn in Hell forever?.

Eternal Hell

Most Christian churches teach that

you are not a Christian unless you believe there is an eternal unending Hell-fire for all those who are not "Christian". Who determines "who" is a "Christian"? For Orthodox Christians the Patriarch of Constantinople. For Coptic Christians, the Patriach or Alexandria. For Assyrian Christians, the Patriarch of Antioch. For Catholics, the Pope of Rome. For Evangelicals, the pastor or Board of Elders decides "who is a Christian" (and therefore "saved") and "who is not a Christian"; based upon interpretations of the Bible or tradition.

Theosophists believe that there is not one Hell but many Hells, and they are described in detail in the Buddhist and Jain scriptures. But none of them are eternal in duration.

Indeed, the Bible itself nowhere says that Gehenna (Hell) is "eternal". There is no Hebrew word for "eternity" or "forever". The word translated "everlasting" in English translations of the Hebrew Bible (Old Testament) is from the Hebrew word OLAM which means literally "an unknown period of time with a beginning and and end".

The only Greek word for "eternal" and "forever" and "everlasting" is AIDIOS, and does not exist in any Bible manuscript in connection with Gehenna (hell).

The reason why most Christians believe Hell is "eternal" is based upon a mistranslation by St. Jerome in the 4th century. He MIStranslated the Greek word AIONIAN ("belonging to an Aeon") into the Latin word AETERNUM ("eternal"). An AEON in Greek means:

1. An indetermine period of time with a beginning and an end.

or....

2. An Emanation of the Divine.

Hell exists, but it is not eternal in duration. The purpose of Hell is to purify Natural souls.

The Three Types of Human Souls

Theosophy teaches that there are three types of human souls:

Divine
Spiritual
Natural

Divine Souls are those who have overcome their own egos and achieved Nirvana but Who voluntarily choose to return to Earth to help others. These Divine Souls include:

Avatars
Prophets
Gurus

Avatars are either incarnations of GOD or incarnations of the Son of God (the WORD).

Prophets are Messengers of God.

Gurus are Way-Showers of the Path-Out-of-Darkness.

Naturally, there are false avatars, false prophets, and false gurus. Places like India and Africa about with them, but they can also be found in Europe and America.

Divine Souls do not need to be "saved" but they are "saved" already. They come here to help the rest of us find salvation (from Hell) and liberation (from Samsara).

Spiritual Souls are the next highest type of soul. Perhaps 01.% of all people are Spiritual Souls; about 1 in 1000. Theosophy is for this type of soul; the Spiritual. Many people who say "I'm spiritual but not religious" are in fact Theosophists but don't know it yet. Almost all of them believe in Karma and Reincarnation. Indeed, they are Theosophists already in all but name.

A good exampel of a Spiritual Soul is St. Francis of Assisi, or Mother Teresa. In Christianity, Spiritual Souls often become monks or nuns, or, if Protestants, become missionaries in India or Africa; sacificing comfort and money in order to help others.

But the vast great majority of people in organized religions are not Spiritual souls.

The last type of soul is the Natural Soul. They may be divided into two groups:

1) Religious

2) Irreligious

Religious Natural Souls are people who try believe in God or gods, but want gain; so they try to supplicate God or the gods as a way to get gain. All of the hundreds of thousands of Hindu Temples, Buddhist temples, Muslim masjids, and Christian churches over the world were established for this purpose; to supplicate God or the gods in order to get gain. People who are Pagan or Wiccan or practice Voodoo or Black Magick are also Religious souls. They practice their rites for the very same reason Christians or Buddhists or Muslims practice their religion: GAIN.

Irreligious Natural Souls are men and women who care nothing about God or the Afterlife or the Divine. They are for the here and now. They are the Materialists. These include Atheists, Agnostics, and people who "haven't thought about" the Afterlife. They often see themselves as superior to religious people because they see religious people as "simpletons" and "fools" and "superstitious". Some Natural souls are involved in organized religions; either because they are forced to (like in Hindu or Muslim countries) or because they find they can manipulate superstious people and get gain by pretending to be religious. Many fake "faith-healers" and Indian gurus are these type of people.

Many Spiritual souls get involved with organized religion, but it usually turns them off because they see too much ignorance and hypocrisy among the Religious Natural Souls they come into contact with. Spiritual souls often become disillusioned with organized religion because of this; but not always.

Theosophy--Religion of the Wise Men

Theosophy is basically the religion of the Wise Men. Many people have speculated as to whom the Magi ("Maja'i") where:

1) Kings
2) Zoroastrian priests
3) Astrologers
4) Sorcerers

In fact, the Magi were none of the above. They were not kings. They were not Zoroastrian priests. They were not astrologers. They were not sorcerers. They were MAGI (plural of "Magus").

The Magi belonged to a Universal Brotherhood of "Wise Men". Why were they wise? Because they studied the "Divine Wisdom" (Theo-Sophia). The Jewish Kabballah is the Jewish School of Theosophy (Divine Wisdom), but such ancient Mystery Schools existed in all parts of the world. It is nothing more than the study of TRUTH; not physical truth, but meta-physical truth.

Theosophy vs. The TS

In 1875 a Russian psychic named Helena P. Blavatsky founded The International Theosophical Society; as a way to collect and disseminate the "Divine Wisdom". To be a Theosophist does not mean one has to belong to the Theosophical Society. The TS acts as a clearinghouse of information and research on Theosophy; in order to publish books, to do research, to disseminate information, and to provide fellowship for Theosophists. But one does not need to belong to THE TS in order to be a Theosophist.

To be a THEOSOPHIST one must only believe in the following truths:

1°God exists as pure SPIRIT.

2°Our souls are immortal.

3°Reincarnation; all of us will have many lifetimes.

4°Heaven is Nirvana; liberation from the Wheel of Rebirth. Nirvana is achieved when we overcome our own egos which takes many lifetimes.

5°Hell exists to purge Natural and Carnal souls and is temporary and not eternal.

6°Buddha is our Father in Heaven.

7°Jesus is the virgin-born Son of God, the Savior, the Only Mediator between God and man.

8°Avatars (Incarnations of God) and Prophets (Messengers of God) reveal the Will of God and what is Right and what is Wrong. They reveal THE WAY of the Cosmos.

9°The Law of Karma says our thoughts/words/deeds determine our future.

10° Theosophy is the highest religion because it is simply the TRUTH about the Divine (Spiritual Reality).

If you believe in all 10 of these Principles then you are a Theosophist.

"I tell you, Shariputra,
I, too, am like this,
Being the Most Venerable among the Holy Ones,
The Father of the Cosmos,
I tell you, Shariputra,
You men are all my children,
And I am your Father.
From age to age, you
Have been scorched by multitudious woes,
And I have saved you all." (Lotus Sutra 3)

Buddha As Our Father in Heaven

Theosophy teaches that the Father has incarnated upon this Earth (and many other planets) many times. The most well-known incarnation (avatar) of the Father was as Gautama Siddhartha; prince of the Sakya tribe of Aryans, in India, in the 6th century B.C.

Christians believe that God the Father is a Spirit and that HE CANNOT incarnate; become a man!

Theosophists believe that if the Son of God can become a sinless God-Man, then so can God the Father. Indeed, nothing is impossible with God. One of the incarnations (avatara) of GOD was Krishna (c. 3000 b.c.), Who said to His disciple Arguna son of Bharata:

"I am the Father of the Cosmos (the Mother), the Support, and the Grand-Sire." (Gita 9:17)

"I am the Supersoul; seated in the hearts of all living beings." (Gita 10:20)

"Whenever there is a decline in dharma [righteousness, duty/relgion], O son of Bharata, and a rise in irreligion, at that time I descend Myself, to save the pious and annihilate the impious; as well as to reestablish dharma, I Myself am born age after age." (Gita 4:7-8)

If the Son of God can become a God-Man, why not God Himself?

Is it impossible for God the Father to become a God-Man?

Did the Father ever say: "I shall never incarnate as My Son has?"

Christians believe that God the Father either cannot or will not incarnate; that it is IMPOSSIBLE for a SPIRIT to become a Man!

Theosophists believe that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE for God!

Jesus was a Buddhist!

Jesus was raised a Member of an Essence sect called the "Nazarenes". The Essenes were founded by Buddhist monks in Palestine about 150 B.C. The village of Nazareth was a village of Nazarenes; who were Buddhists, and they were also (of course) Jews.

Buddha never called His religion "Buddhism"; that is a term invented by a British scholar in the 18th century. Buddha referred to His teachings as DHARMA (duty/law/foundation/religion). He called His path simply: THE WAY.

The Nazarenes did NOT call their religion "Christianity". Jesus did not call His religion "Christianity". He did NOT call it "Judaism" (another term never used by Moses or the Jews until the term was invented by a pagan Roman historian to describe the rites of the Jews).

Jesus referred to His religion as "THE WAY". The apostle Paul wrote:

THE WAY QUOTE
The personal name for God in Hebrew is YAHWEH; which means "I AM/WAS/WILL BE". It means "THE SELF-EXISTENT".

Most Christians don't realize that the Jews never referred to the god Yahweh as "Father" or "Heavenly Father"! The Jews called Yahweh by the term "ADONAI" which means "My Lord". They NEVER referred to Yahweh as "Father" or "Heavenly Father".

But....

Buddhists in the time of Jesus (and before) referred to Buddha as "Our Father in Heaven" and "Our Heavenly Father." And Jesus, being raised a Nazarene, did the same.

Buddhists in the time of of Jesus NEVER referred to themselves as "Buddhists"; this again was a term invented by a British scholar in the 1700s. Buddhists referred to themselves as Bodhisattvas; which in Sanskrit means "True Disciples of the Way of Wisdom".

The Buddha said:

"I am the Father of the Cosmos, the Self-Existent, the Healer, the Protector of all creatures." (Lotus of the Good Law, XV.)
At the time of Jesus, and before, Bodhisattvas reffered to Buddha as "Heavenly Father" among other titles.

Theosophists are NOT "Buddhists"; in that they do not try to supplicate Buddha or any Buddhist deity in order to get gain. Theosophists are not among the ignorant who believe that God or gods can be supplicated with rites, offerings, or rituals. Karma desides our fate. Karma is not God or a god, but Universal Spiritual Law that is always totally Just, and cannot be bribed with rites, offerings, or prayers (i.e. pleadings). Our fate is determined by our actions in life; no matter what religion we are, or if we claim to be Atheists, or Agnostics, or whatever. None of this determines our Afterlife.

The fact is that God the Father has incarnated as sinless God-Men many times, on many planets, to help His children.

Why then did He have to send His Son Jesus to the Jews?

Christians really DO NOT KNOW why. They only have faith that He did.

Theosophists know why. And that reason shall be revealed to you later; if you care to know the reason.

Q. Then why be religious at all if one's religion has nothing to do with one's Afterlife?

A. The Teachings of the Avatars and Prophets shows us the Way to lead lives full of Good Thoughts/Good Words/Good Deeds, and the more good we do in life the better our Afterlife and next incarnation.

Q. So you are saying that salvation is by our own Works and not by our faith and grace?

A. No! A Natural or Religious soul CANNOT save itself via good works, but it can be changed into a Spiritual soul; via the process known as being born again. This process comes via faith in an Avatar via a "born-again" experience. One may not be a Christian to be born-again. Jesus' disciples (except Judas) were "born-again" and they did not refer to themselves as "Christians" (a term invented by a Pagan living in Antioch). A Natural or Religious soul CANNOT become Spiritual via good deeds, rites, or rituals; but by being born-again.

Faith is a guru or false avatar cannot save you. Only true faith in a true Avatar can save a soul; by changing that soul from a Natural Soul into a Spiritual Soul.

Conclusion

THEOSOPHY is a belief-system for those who are spiritual but not religious. The Prophets like Moses, Zoroaster, Muhammad, Bahá'ulláh created the Holy Laws as a way to control and Natural souls (Religious and Irreligious). The purpose of the Law (Torah, Qur'an, Kitab-i-Aqdas, Laws of Manu, etc.) was to control Natural souls. These are selfish souls bent upon personal gain; so Messengers of God were sent to try to control these souls via a System of Rules we now call "Religions".

Jesus was an AVATAR of the WORD. He did not bring a Book of Laws. He did not come with more Holy Laws. He came to save us from the Law! He came to show us THE WAY; which is higher than the religions.

We can liken the Prophets such as Zoroaster, Moses, Muhammad, Bahá'u'lláh, and others, as police officers that a Mayor sents to control a riotous mob. But besides the mob are small groups of observers who are quiet, and calm, and can't understand why the mob is rioting. These are the Spiritual souls. They respect and acknowledge the Prophets, but the Prophets were not sent for them, but for the Mob.

Spiritual souls do not need "Holy Laws" to control their behavior; because they are by their nature spiritual, and by their nature seek to harm nobody, but to do good to all.

Spiritual souls do not need the constant thread of Hell or the promise of Heavenly Choirs or Paradise in order to go good. Spiritual souls do good not our of personal gain or the fear of Hell-fire, but because spiritual souls are good. The Sufi poetess ????? wrote:

??????
Sufis ("soofis") are the "Theosophists" of Islaam.

Jesus came NOT to save the Spiritual, but the Natural. He said:

"The son of Man...."
Jesus just told you: "I do not come to be the Savior of Spiritual souls, but of Natural souls; to make them Spiritual souls".

Spiritual souls (Theosophists) adhere to the "Golden Rule" (Do unto others....) NOT because they fear Hell-fire if they don't, but because they would never think of doing anything else.

Spiritual souls (Theosophists) do not pray to God; because a Theosophist knows that whatever happens to him or to his loved ones is simply the Law of Karma in action. The Law of Karma is the WILL of God, and everything (good and evil) is according to His Will. To pray to ask God to change Karma is not according to His Will.

Prayers were established by the Prophets as a spiritual discipline for Natural souls; like we have children repeat over and over again "I will not turn on the oven when I am home alone!" etc.

Theosophists have no rites, rituals, common prayers, or holy days to observe. They are not superstitious. They do not believe that by offering prayers, or incense, or supplications, they can get God or the gods to do things for them. Theosophists KNOW BETTER! Everything acts out according to the Universal Law of the Cosmos (Karma). We cannot alter "what is" via prayer, rites, or sacrifices.

Theosophy is the Science of the Divine for Spiritual Souls
