THE TRUE PROPHET

There are many people who have studied in my word,
And think that they know all about what they've read and heard.
They spoke with great authority as though they wrote the book,
And argued every little point no matter what it took.

They've been doing this so long that when a thought comes in their head,
They speak it prophetically as though it's something I have said.
From their own imagination representing thoughts as true,
Imposing their own will on whoever they've spoken to.

They imitate gifts that only my Spirit can use,
Then use my word only to argue and accuse.
Using prophecy to make and prove a point,
And dare to imitate the ones whom I anoint.

Basking in the importance of everything they say,
They fail to realize that they have led someone astray,
That they must account for lies that came from their own mind,
Abusing Spiritual Gifts that I alone designed.

They've forgotten Jeremiah, chapters fourteen and twenty-eight,
Describing false prophets and what's going to be their fate,
When they said "God Said" and it's something I did not say,
This is forging lies and makes others go astray.

Take time when you study, but take more time to pray,
Be sure I have a part in what you do and say.
Always keep your prayer channel open loud and clear
And you know for sure it's my voice that you hear.

And when someone prophesies, to make sure that it's me,
See that He talks of Jesus, and how He set you free.
And to be sure that what He says is faithful and true,
It will make your heart rejoice because of my love for you.
