Late Winter Snows

The late spring snows flock the trees in white.
The tufts gently mock the spring time blossoms
that still far off lie in wait, for warmer weather
and gentle breezes to be coaxed from the limbs.

But now is the time that I like best.
the snow highlights the naked branches,
but does not hide from view
the wonder and complexity of its lines.

And in the pre dawn grays and subtle blues
the slowly warming day lets the snow drops
fall gently from the limbs
as the wind gently caresses the still naked trees.

Like a lover in the early morning
lies beneath pristine white sheets,
nothing hid from view but nothing clearly visible,
is stirred by the gentle caress of a hand upon her back..
