As she walked behind Holly and Jen backstage, they pushed
past all the girls and Lauren did the same, so she didn't
lose either of the girls. When they got to the guards,
the two girls flashed him their passes and kept walking.
He stopped Lauren. "She's with US!" Holly called, rolling her
eyes at the muscular man.
"Show him your pass." Jen called.
Lauren pulled out her pass, and continued walking.
"What a beefcake, huh?" Lauren asked. The three girls giggled
and headed towards a door with a big silver star on it.
Holly opened the door, without knocking and ran into Kevin's arms.
"Hey baby!" He said smiling, and blushing, because he was standing
there in his boxer shorts.
Jen sat down and waited for Howie to come out of the bathroom.
"You guys sounded AWESOME tonight baby." Holly said, still in Kevin's
sweaty arms.
Lauren noticed, Nick was no where to be seen. Brian noticed the look
of wonder on her face.
"Hey Nicky... your hot babe is here!" He called, winking at Lauren.
All of the sudden, Nick came running out from behind a corner, obviously where
he was changing his clothes, and picked Lauren up in a hug.
"Hey, what's up?" he laughed.
"Not much. You guys souded REALLY great. Who knew, I would
ever be a Backstreet Boys fan?" Lauren said giggling. Still
in Nick's arms she kissed him on the cheek. He smelled wonderful.
Even though he had been sweating like a pig, he still smelled
fresh and clean. Mmmm.
"Lauren? Did Julie end up coming tonight?" Brian asked, with a look
of dissapointment.
"I didn't see her... maybe she got lost?" She asked, trying to bail her
sister out of trouble.
"No, I gave her good directions. And her seat was next to yours,
so if you didn't see her, she didn't come." He said, looking down
and pulling his shirt over his head.
Just then, Julie BURST in the room, with the arm of her shirt
ripped and hair all messed up.
"Julie, what happened to you??" Brian asked, looking at the girl
who was wearing, an Abercrombie long sleeved shirt, straight
legged pants, and Nike tennis shoes. Her hair was messed up
terribly.
"Oh my god. Uh, your fans attacked me. I'm over this. Being friends
with the Backstreet Boys is too dangerous. Sorry Brian." She said,
and left the room.
"Wow." Brian said. He turned and looked at Lauren. "THAT was Julie? YOUR
sister?" He asked.
"Yeah, why?" She asked starting to laugh.
"Damn. She looks SO different then how she did last night. Hmm. Oh well." He said
turing away from Lauren and brushing his teeth.
"Hmm. . . So Lauren, you wanna go out and get something to eat?" Nick asked
her, as he walked up to the mirror and started to brush his teeth.
"Sure, sounds good. I'm not too hungry, but if your hungry
I'd be glad to go with you." She said smiling at him.
When he finished, he grabbed his jacket, and took Lauren's hand.
"Guys, what do you plan on doing tonight? We're going to dinner,
but are you guys gonna be at the hotel or what?" He asked.
Everyone looked around the room, and said "hotel".
"Alright, we'll meet you at the hotel in a couple of hours." He said, and lead Lauren
out the door.
They heard screaming fans all over the place. Before they got to the fans, Nick pounded
on someone's door, right before walking in.
"Yo Marcus!" He called to a VERY muscular guy sleeping on a couch.
"Yeah man?" He asked.
"Can you walk us to the car?" Nick asked, blushing.
"Yeah. That's what I'm here for." Marcus replied laughing.
"Thanks." Nick said.
"And who is this little hottie you have here?" Marcus asked.
"This is Lauren. Lauren this is Marcus, one of our body guards." Nick said.
"Why hello Lauren." Marcus said, shaking her hand.
"Hi." She said smiling. Nick took her hand, and they walked out
to a blue BMW Z3.
"Wow, Nick is this your car?" She asked smiling.
"Yeah, why?" He asked.
"Cause I have the same one. Only it's pink." She answered.
He opened the car door for her, and she jumped in. When he got in
he looked at her, with eyes that made her melt.
"So where do you wanna go for dinner?" He asked.
"Hmmm, I don't know. I'm not too sure of any places around here." She answered.
"How does Burger King sound?" He asked smiling.
"Well, that'll do." She said, sounding a little dissapointed. She had hoped
he would pick something a little more romantic. She didn't wanna tell him
what had happened between her and Matt at a table in Burger King.
So they drove RIGHT past a Burger King, and into a parking lot
with a HUGE resteraunt in front of it with huge marble doors.
"Wow." Lauren said. He opened the door for her and took her hand.
"Do you have a reservation?" A skinny little man at the door asked.
"Yes. Nick Carter." He said.
"This way Sir." The skinny man said. Lauren smiled to herself thinking Matt
would have never done such a thing.
The man seated them at a table with big cushoned seats,
and a candle in the middle.
"I hope you like it here. My mom said it was good." Nick said smiling.
"Sure beats Burger King." Lauren said, touching his hand from
across the table.
"So.. what's new?" He asked.
"Well, nothing really, except for Matt and I aren't together anymore." She said, hoping
Nick would say something sweet and ask her out.
"Wow. Really? I'm sorry. That must suck." He said.
Lauren felt tears fill her eyes. 'Great. I broke up with Matt
for NO reason at all. Nick isn't even going to ask me out.'She thought.
"Are you ok Lauren?" Nick said, once he noticed she hadn't said anything. He thought
he saw her get a little teary eyed. 'She must be upset about the break up' He thought to
himself.
"Yeah. I'm cool. I'll be right back." She said heading towards the bathroom.
Standing in the bathroom, washing her hands was the richest, snobbiest, most
popular girl in school.
"HI LAUREN." She said in her loud annoying voice.
"Hi Kookie." Lauren said cringing.
"What's the matter? Are you ok? I just had the best night of my
life."
"Real-" Lauren started to ask, but Kookie cut her off.
"I was at the Backstreet Boys concert." She said, and let out
a gasp.
"Really? So was I." Lauren felt this was the best time to make Kookie
feel REALLY small, probably for the first time in her life.
"What do you think of Nick Carter?" Lauren asked.
"You where there? Nick is THE hottest guy I have ever seen." She said, giggling
to herself.
"Yeah, really? Remember when Nick said "hi lauren sweetie?" and dedicated a song
to a Lauren in the crowd?" She asked.
"Yeah, why? That couldn't have been you." Kookie said laughing.
"Yeah, it was, and I'm having dinner with him right now. I wouldn't wanna
keep him waiting, so I've gotta go. Byebye Kook." Lauren said, now smiling,
and walked out the bathroom door. She heard Kookie let out a scream of anger.
"Hey babe." Nick said smiling at her when she got to the table.
"Hey. I'm better now." She said.
"Good. So it must have been a rough break up. Wanna talk about it?" He asked.
"Not really. I just told him that after I met you, I realized that I didn't really like him." She said, hoping
he'd get the hint that she wanted to go out with him.
"Wow. That makes me feel really good." He said said squeezing her
hand.
She smiled. All of the sudden she heard "LAUREN!" from across
the resteraunt.
"Oh god." Lauren mumbled.
"What's up Lauren?" Kookie asked, trying to be nice, yet looking
at Nick the entire time.
"Kookie, go away." Lauren said.
"What? I thought we were friends." She said trying to keep
her smile.
"Well we're not. All you want is to meet Nick, so yeah, Nick this is Kookie,
the snobbiest, bitchiest bitch in the school, and Kookie this is Nick Carter,
the sweetest guy who wouldn't put up with your shit. Bye." Lauren said, pushing
Kookie away.
"Hi Nick. I'm Kookie!" She said pushing herself back into the picture.
"Um, hey Kookie. I guess you know who I am." He said, wishing
this annoying girl hadn't interrupted his evening with Lauren.
Kookie pulled up a chair. "You sounded great tonight." She said, getting
very close to him.
"Look, I don't mean to sound like an asshole or anything, but that was
really rude of you to just come and interrupt our dinner. I'm trying to have
a nice dinner with Lauren and it's very hard to do so with you sitting
here. And for some reason I get the impression that Lauren doesn't like you too much." He said to her.
"Wow... ok...Sorry." She said, looking very hurt. All of the sudden, her eyes lit up.
"Just thought you should know. Lauren has a boyfriend. The hottest guy in school." She said before she
walked away.
Nick grabbed her wrist. "If your trying to get me to STOP LIKING her," He started. "It
won't work. She broke up with Matt. So get lost." He said, very pissed off.
"YOU DUMPED MATT?!?!" Kookie screamed.
All of the sudden Nick disapeared.
"Yes. I did, Kookie. And he was really upset and crying, so don't talk to him about it. At least not yet." Lauren answered.
"Ma'am, you need to leave the resteraunt." Nick had complained about
her and asked that they make her leave.
"Thanks Nick." Lauren said smiling when she left. They ordered their food
and ate in silence.
"So Lauren, what do you think about guys now that you have broken up with Matt?" He asked.
"The same thing I thought about them before I broke up with Matt, and before I knew Matt." She said.
"Alright then. That's good." He said smiling.
"Yeah, I guess." Lauren said.
"Well, we'd better get out of here." Nick said, slightly uncomfortably.
She smiled and agreed.
