When she woke up the next morning, she was once again awaken by the phone.
"Hello?" She answered.
"Hey babe, it's me."
"Hey Nick, what's up?" She asked.
"I was calling to talk to your mom, then I was gonna come pick you up."
"Well let me give you directions to my house. I didn't feel like going today."
"Well Nick, it was very nice meeting you, and I'm glad you could stay for dinner. You're a very nice young man and I'm glad you met Lauren. Maybe you can talk some sence into her." Lauren's mother said, as Nick and Lauren were getting ready to leave.
Chapter 9
"Well thank you Mrs. Miller. It was nice meeting you too." Nick said, shaking her hand.
"Lauren, I want you home tomorrow night, ok? Don't get into any trouble." Her mom said kissing her cheek.
"Don't worry Mrs. Miller, I won't let her." Nick said smiling and leading Lauren out the door.
When they got in the car, Lauren cracked up.
"What's so funny?" Nick asked.
"You were great! My mom LOVES you!" She screamed.
"OH YEAH!" she started, "Can we stop at Veronica's house?" Lauren asked.
"Why? I thought you hated her." Nick said, remembering that Lauren had told him about Veronica and Matt being together.
"I do, I just wanna give her something back. Her house is RIGHT there." Lauren said pointing to a house up the block. When they reached the house, Lauren noticed Matt's car in the driveway. When they pulled up they could hear yelling. Veronica and Matt were arguing. Lauren thought it was hysterical.
"Here, wait in the car, I don't want this to get ugly." Lauren said, walking to the front door. She knocked and Veronica and Matt came to the door, Veronica with tears in her eyes.
"What's HE doing here?" Matt asked, pointing to Nick's car.
"He drove me here Matt. I came here to return Mine and Veronica's friendship rings, necklaces and earrings." Lauren said, throwing the pile of jewelry into Veronica's hands.
"Lauren, please don't do this. Come in for a minute." Veronica offered.
"I don't want to keep Nick waiting." Lauren said.
"He can come too." Veronica added. Lauren waved Nick over. He came up to the front door and they walked in side.
Lauren and Nick sat on one couch and Veronica and Matt sat on the other.
"Lauren, it's time everything came out between you, me, Matt, Nick, everything." Veronica started. "Let me start... Ok, well let's see, the whole me and Matt thing started..." Veronica tried to say, but Lauren cut her off.
"Veronica, I don't really care about anything that happened between you and Matt. I'm glad I got away from you because I don't need a friend like you. And I'm also glad I got away from Matt to move on to someone I know I can and mostlikely will fall in love with in time. He's good to me. Like really good. Matt, you could take some notes." Lauren said, rolling her eyes at him.
Nick just sat quietly, wishing they could be in the car on the way to the hotel, even though he knew this would have to happen, just so there was no more hate.
"Lauren, I love you. You're my best friend!" Veronica yelled. Lauren stood up and tears started streaming down her cheeks, "If you loved me so much, and if I was really your best friend, you wouldn't have been a little trampy whore with my boyfriend. I'm just glad we're no longer friends, because if you even THOUGHT of pulling that shit with Nick, I think I'd kill you." Lauren said, sitting back down, she started shaking from being so upset. Nick put his arm around her shoulder. He noticed Matt turn red in anger, and inside he smiled.
"But Lauren, you ended up not being together anyway. You ended up realizing that you don't love him, so what's the big deal?" Veronica asked.
"What? How can you ask that? Because I THOUGHT I loved him. How would you feel if you still had a chance with AJ and were in love with him, and I was fucking him behind your back? Huh? How would you feel Veronica?" Lauren screamed at her ex-bestfriend.
"I guess I'd be pretty pissed, but I wouldn't end our friendship." Veronica pleaded, hoping Lauren would reconsider.
"Well see, that's where you and I are different. I would, and I am. I don't want anything to do with you anymore, because I can't trust you, and I'm sorry. I wish I could, because you were my best friend, but I'm moving on because I don't need best friend's fucking me over the way you did." She said, putting her head on Nick's shoulder.
"Lauren, not to change the subject but what do you mean 'If I still had a chance with AJ'?" Veronica asked, thinking AJ would still be into her.
"Don't think that after this episode that AJ would be interested in you Veronica. I mean, I know AJ is a little crazy, but he does have common sence. He doesn't like girls like you." Nick informed her.
"I can't believe you're seeing a BACKSTREET BOY!" Matt yelled in the middle of nowhere.
Lauren just stood up and said "Excuse me Nick, Excuse me Veronica." after saying that she looked at Matt and slapped him across the face. That's when she exploded.
"You fucking asshold! I can't believe I ever even THOUGHT of dating you! You were FUCKING my best friend while you were with me, yet you came to me and told me you loved me... whoo, and does it matter that he is a BACKSTREET BOY? No, it doesn't asshole. He's got a wonderful voice, and at least he makes his own money, and he's a whole hell of a lot better person than you are!" Lauren screamed. She had had enough of being in that house.
"Goodbye Veronica. Nice knowing you. And I hope you become more and more depressed knowing who I'm with and where I am all the time. Just remember mine and Nick's faces together Matt. At least we're both happy now.. right?" Lauren said, taking Nick's hand and walking out the door.
"LAUREN! DON'T LEAVE ME!" Matt called after her.
"Lauren, I can't believe you! PLEASE!" Veronica called.
Lauren and Nick just got in the car and drove to the hotel.
"Nick, I'm sorry you had to be there for that." Lauren apoligized.
"Don't apoligize. I'm glad I was there. I hope you're all right now." He soothed.
"I'm much better, and you helped me. Thank you." She said smiling.
"Lauren, god, I know how much Veronica meant to you and I'm so sorry you had to go through that, and I just want you to know that I would never do that to you. Ever. You're a really special and important person in my life. We just clicked and I know that this is going to be something really good. I just hope you don't ever think I'd be that way to you." Nick said to her, reffering to Matt.
"Oh Nick, thank you so much. You're very special to me too, and I don't think that you would do that to me. I trust you completley. I'm glad you agree that we've clicked, I think so too." She said, smiling a huge smile at him.
"Well now that EVERYTHING is out, let's go grab some ice cream before we get back to the hotel!" Nick suggested.
"Sounds great to me!" Lauren said smiling, again.
