***Nick's Apartment***
"Ok I need your keys! I want to go pick up Nikki." Nick said as he grabbed a donut from the counter.
"Ok They are in my purse Hun!" Jane yelled from the guest 'room' where she was trying to pry Aaron out of his bed. Nick grabbed her keys then picked his keys up and walked outside. He got in his mom's car drove to Nikki's house. He walked to the door and realized how much he was going to need a jacket if he was going to be living in Washington for any length of time. When he knocked Marcella answered.
"Hey Marcella, Is Your sister awake yet?" he asked wishing she would ask him to come in to wait so he didn't have to freeze outside.
"Umm no but I'll go get her. I'll be right back."
"Wait, can I wake her up? It's kind of a surprise and I don't want her to know I'm in town till she sees me."
"Ok sure." She said as she stepped back for him to come in. Thankfully he walked in. "You can go on back to her room." She said as she shut the door.
"Thanks." He said walking back to her room. Quietly he opened the door and walked over to the side of her bed. He smiled. He hadn't seen her in a month and missed her a lot. Leaning down he gently kissed her cheek. Lazily she opened her eyes and shot up when she saw Nick starring down at her.
"Oh my gosh!!" she said blinking in disbelief. "Nevermind…I hate double dreams." She mumbled before lying her head back down.
"Nikki!! This isn't a dream. I am really here." Nick said wishing he could just wrap his arms around her and hold her tight.
Slowly she sat up again and looked at him. She still wasn't sure if she was awake or not but at this point didn't really care. She wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him. He hugged her back holding her tightly. Which made waking up so early worth the trouble. "I can't believe you're here!!" she said still not letting him go.
"I came just to see you and I was hoping you could come over for thanksgiving with me."
"Sure!! You know I'd love to just to spend time with you. But are you sure you don't want to eat here…I mean Your cooking skills?? Sounds a little risky to me Nick. We don't need nobody going to the hospital on Thanksgiving!" she said jokingly.
"You think I can't cook??" he said grabbing his heart. "I can't believe you! I can cook!! Cereal and toast, and grilled cheese, and umm…TV dinners and salad too! See I can cook a lot!" by the time he was finished listing what he could cook Nikki was laughing so hard tears were coming down her cheek. He smiled then kissed her cheek. "I missed you Nikki." He said looking into her brown eyes that he missed so much while they were a part.
She returned his gaze and smiled as she looked into his beautiful crystal blue eyes. She loved his eyes…they were just so prefect. Blue turquoise stones, shining with youth and beauty. "I missed you too!" she said finally coming out of her trance.
"Well get up and get dressed please Nikki."
"Why should I Mr. Carter? Give me a reason." She said teasing him just to see what he'd say.
"Because I asked!! Please! I want you to see my apartment."
"Just because you SAID?? Um so you're my boss now Nick?"
"No, I just want to spend some time with you. I'm sorry Nikki. I wasn't trying to be bossy." He said pouting. "I was hoping to show you my apartment."
"Wait!! Apartment?? You have an Apartment? Like here in Bremerton??" she asked just now realizing what he was saying.
"Yeah, I want to spend some time with you after the tour ends. So I decided it'd be easier for me to be here. I mean I moved my parents out to California during the summer. So It's closer to my family and A LOT closer to you."
"Ah!! You are so unbelievably sweet Nick!!" she said as she threw her arms around his neck.
"Good, now that your in a good mood will you PLEASE get dressed?" he asked smiling at her.
"Ok, ok. I'm getting up." She said getting out of her bed.
***Later***
"Sorry I took so long Nick. I had to take a shower and do my hair."
"It's ok Nikki. It was worth waiting for." He said looking at her. She was wearing a long black skirt with a slit up to just above her knee. She had on a sky blue spaghetti strap shirt and a matching button up sweater. She was wearing black strapy high heels.
"Thank you! You are so sweet!!" she said as she kissed him. "Let's get going."
"Ok, You need a coat or anything Nikki…It's pretty cold out there." He said remembering how cold it had been when he got there.
"Oh that's only because you are so used to Florida. I am used to Washington's cold weather."
"Jeez, I'm going to love living here."
"Oh no you don't! You can't change your mind!! Not after you got me looking forward to you living here!" she said thinking he was trying to back out of living in Washington.
"I wasn't going to change my mind Nikki!! I want to be here to be with you…not because I am looking for good weather. I have that in Florida. I was looking for a place that I could be with you more often."
She smiled. He knew what to say to make all her fears disappear. "Do you have a CD player in your car Nick?" she said thinking she'd bring one of her CDs to listen to on the way to his apartment, not knowing how close it was.
"Yeah, I do. You can bring any of your CDs you want." He said as if he could read her mind.
"Ok, well lets go now." She said grabbing a CD quickly and walking to the door. She walked to the kitchen and Nick followed. "Mom, I'm going with Nick now."
"Oh ok. Hi and Bye Nick!" she said smiling. He was such a nice boy.
"Bye Mrs Vaughan." They left and walked out to his car.
"Jeez I knew you had a lot of different cars but you never mentioned Van in that list." She said surprised he'd own a van.
"Umm well I'm just full of surprises." He said flattering a little with his lie. But it wasn't completely a lie. He did have a surprise in store for her.
"You are so silly Nick!" she said smiling as she got in the car. He got in. She put in her CD and turned on Christina Aguilaria's I Turn To You. "When I'm lost, in the rain. In your eyes I know I'll find the light to light my way. When I'm scared. Losing ground. When my world is going crazy you can turn it all around. And when I'm down you're there pushing me to the top. You're always there giving me all you've got." Nikki sang looking at Nick smiling.
"You know you have a very beautiful voice Nikki."
"Very Funny Nick!" she said thinking he was being sarcastic.
"I'm not being funny!! I'm serious Nikki, you have a very Nice voice." He said looking very serious.
"Thank you..." she said smiling. That meant more then Nick would ever know. She always loved singing and for him, a world class singer to say she was good, meant a lot to her. "Like I said before you are VERY sweet." Suddenly Nick pulled in front of a very nice looking apartment. "Nick don't you have a parking lot??" She said knowing the place had one because she had friends that had lived there.
"Yeah but they are redoing the pavement." He said totally making it up on the spot. That was the first time he didn't sound weird lying.
"Oh ok. Well let's go in." she said as she opened her door and got out. Nick sighed and got out then locked up. She looked at the place…it was pretty nice. It had a big deck on one side. There was an upstairs. She guessed it was probably the biggest one around. It was a nice white color with black trim. He walked around the car and hooked arms with Nikki as they walked in. He unlocked the door and they walked in. Nick turned on the light revealing all the guests. "Oh my gosh!!!" She said excited to see everyone there.
"I thought you might like to have a few of our friends around to celebrate Thanksgiving." Nick said smiling at her.
She wrapped her arms around his neck and Kissed him passionately. "Thank you so much Nick!!" she said smiling. Nothing could make her day any better.
