***The Next Day***
Right after the group finished their concert in Frankfurt they flew up to New York to do another concert and stop by the MTV studios. They were all getting ready to head over to MTV to do one on one interviews. The girl were with them too of course but they'd be staying at the hotel or going out to shop.
***Later, At MTV Studios***
John Norris is doing the interviews one at a time for the guys. Howie is the first one to be interviewed. "Hi Howie."
"Hey John."
"This is the first time we've been able to do one on one interviews with you guys. Does it feel strange not having the rest of the guys in here with you during an interview?"
"In a way it's kind of strange because I am used to them being in the same room during an interview most of the time but we do things without each other so I'll be fine."
"So what was the past year like for you personally?"
"The past year has had its ups and downs. It wasn't all bad but it wasn't all good."
"By now everyone knows you lost your sister to lupus, a disease that weakens the immune system. How did you and your family cope with that?"
"It was really hard because just a week before she past away she was at our concert to support me. She brought a bunch of her friends and was really proud that I am a backstreet boy. But when they called it was really late at night and they told me that she wasn't doing to good. So I got my stuff together and caught a flight out as soon as I could. But I missed the first one and had to catch the second. When I got there it was too late. The worst part of all was when they had the funeral I had to leave right after because our management didn't want me to miss any shows."
"That had to be tough." He said sympathetically.
"Yeah it was."
***Later, A.J.'s Interview***
"So A.J. do you have a girlfriend?"
"Well actually I am engaged to my girlfriend."
"Wow, When did this happen?"
"It was during this tour in October at our show in Atlanta."
"Was there any truth behind the rumor that your girlfriend was shot and that the tour was delayed for her to recover?"
"Yes, that is true. Her ex is a very jealous guy and when he didn't get what he wanted he shot her. He turned himself in and is now serving 5 years for attempted murder."
"How did you feel about the whole thing?"
"I was really messed up, It was very confusing with everyone wanting the tour to just move on. I couldn't leave her so we delayed a couple shows."
"Was it true that you made some mistakes after your girlfriend was shot from all the stress you had?"
"Yes I did make a mistake. I went out and got drunk then bought a gun. It wasn't too great of a combination. Luckily Nick and Brian helped me before something really bad happened."
***Later Kevin's Interview***
"So Kevin, I just finished talking to A.J. and he is engaged. You being the oldest, will we be hearing wedding bells for you anytime soon?"
"No I think it's safe to say that it'll be a while for me. I wrote the song 'Back To Your Heart' for a girl and I just got back together with her so we'll see how that goes."
"That's good to hear. So that answer my next question too if you have a girlfriend. Are you willing to say her name?"
"I don't want to say her name because I've seen what happened to the other guys when they've said names and their girlfriends usually get tons of hate mail and other sorts of things. It kills the relationship too."
"Ok well what do you think about the other groups that seem to mimic the backstreet ways?"
"It gets kind of annoying. I mean it's nice to know that they like what we are doing but when they have to go and get the same writers as us and producers and such. It gets to me. I mean it's like find your own identity. Creatively think for yourself."
***Later, Nick's Interview***
"So Nick how are you doing?"
"I'm doing just fine John."
"That's great. Well I have to ask this question and you know it's coming. Do you have a girlfriend? And are you willing to say her name? And if not why?"
"Yes I have a girlfriend. Her name is Nikki. I won't say her last name because I do not want any angry fans going after her. It has happened before and personally I can't stand anyone who thinks that is ok. So if any fans are planning on it then you've lost all respect I have for you. And you give our fans a bad name."
"You seem to know something about this. Has it happened to you before?"
"Not really me but the other guys have gone through some pretty tough stuff."
"How has this last year been for you personally?"
"This year has been pretty good to me compared to the rest of the guys. I met my girlfriend this year and I love her very much. And this is my favorite tour so far and it's just been a fun year."
***Later, Brian's Interview***
"So how are you doing Brian?"
"I'm doing pretty good John."
"That's great to hear. Well I've asked all the other guys if they had girlfriends and now it's your turn so do you have a girlfriend? And if yes what is her name if you are willing to say."
"Well I am engaged to my girlfriend and most everyone knows her name now, Mynina."
"Did you ever see this article?" John asked as he passed Brian an old issue of Worldly Whisper, opened to the page with the article about him and Nina.
"Ah yes that. I did see that article."
"What is this about you have a baby?"
"That is not true. That is not true. My girlfriend for reasons that a personal and private has adopted her sister. So no I still have my morals about abstinence and I always will. Since I am going to marry Mynina before year 2001 comes then yes I plan on having a baby. But I didn't abandon any of my morals to do so. Right now I am totally loving being a 'daddy' to her little sister whom I adore."
"How do you feel about how it was written."
"I feel that they had no right to say any of what they said. They did not know any facts about it and they looked at one picture and made up some wild story about how they thought it looked or should be or was. They also had so much racism in that article. I was sickened to think that anyone thinks that just because my girlfriend is mixed that they may say disrespectful things about her. I will love Mynina always and I will never give her skin color a second thought. Anyone who thinks like that is a very deprived person. It's time to stop hate and I fully support your fight for your rights campagine. I have great respect for MTv for standing up and addressing the issue."
"It's good to know you are against racism and all for our foundation. Also I hope things get better with that situation. But to sum up the whole year. How was it in general?"
"It was a pretty good year. There is always going to be some things we wished didn't happen but you just gotta live one day at a time and you make it. Can't live off the past because it's just that past, and the future will come in time be patient, but the one to think about is the present, that is our gift…why else would they call it the Present?"
