“Guys, this is my friend I was telling you about, Grace,” Chris introduced her. “Grace the guys, Justin, Joey, JC, and Lance,” He told her, pointing each one of them.

“Hi everyone,” She waved shyly. “This is my friend,” She paused slightly for the dramatic effect. “Kayla,” She watched as Chris’s head turned slowly.

“Kayla?!?” He yelled, suddenly recognizing her.

“Chris?!?” she yelled back mockingly as they ran into each others arms. “It’s good to see ya bud,” She smiled, keeping her arm resting on Chris’s shoulder.

“I have to say, it’s nice to see you too, it’s been just a little while, hmm?” He told her.

“Mmm…just a little,” She replied, rolling her eyes. “So, what are we here for?”

“I don’t know, why are you here?’

“Well, my good old friend Grace over there called me and said she had a little date set up with you and she invited me along, crazy, girl. Anyways, she told me she had some famous friend, but I’m not seeing anyone famous.”

“Famous friend?”

“Ok, so I made that part up, but it sounded good right?”

“Actually that was one good story, thank you, I enjoyed it.”

“Happy to hear, now how long do I have to wait until I get to see the magic?”

He laughed, looking at his watch, “About another hour, think you can handle it?”

“I can give it a shot, come on Gracie girl, let’s go on an adventure,” The girls laughed, walking out of the room.

“Sociable I see,” JC commented after the door had shut.

“Oh very, Kayla likes to make up stories and see how much you’ll believe her, it’s fun,” Chris told them.

“Super, time to get ready,” Justin said, hearing a knock on the door.

“I have to say, I was impressed,” Kay told Chris after the concert as they ran outside.

“I know, I’m an impressive kind of guy, what can ya say?” Chris replied with a macho attitude.

“Whatever, so what are we gonna do now?” She asked, excitedly.

“Party!” Chris screamed as he and Kayla slapped five.

“Sweet, party hardy, rock and roll!” She yelled and she and Chris made heir way ahead of everyone else. Leave one person behind them jealous.

”Can you still dance like you used to?” Grace heard a voice ask from behind her as she felt hands placed on her hips.

“I don’t know, why don’t we go see?” She replied seductively, leading him out to the dance floor with a big smile on her face.

Grace and Chris made it out to the dance floor and started to dance like they did in high school. They both had smiles that would light up a room and they couldn’t stop. They both knew there was something different though, it wasn’t exactly the same as high school. There was something new between the two of them, another element was apparent, and they weren’t the only ones noticing.

“Hey,” Kay say nudging Justin, “Look at them,” She told him, pointing at Chris and Grace.

“What about?” He was obviously confused.

“You can’t see it? They want each other!” She yelled into his ear as she laughed. Justin smiled, he just didn’t get it. “Never mind,” She told him as they continued to dance. Kayla couldn’t get over how perfect the two suddenly seemed for each other. As if, if they were anyone else’s arms, it wouldn’t be right.

“So, have fun tonight?” Kayla asked Grace as they drove form the club back to Grace’s apartment.

“Yeah, why are you looking at me like that?” She wondered, seeing the mischievous grin on her face.

“Come on, I saw the way you looked when you were dancing with him,” She told her.

“Who? What are you talking about?” Grace asked her, not understanding where all of this was coming from.

“You and Chris,” Grace tensed up at the mention of his name. “Don’t play dumb with me chick, I know you got a little think for our good old friend, and I also know he has something for you?”

“How do you know he has anything for me? I know you didn’t talk to him about that.”

“See, told you you liked him.”

“Whatever Kay, I think you’re making up these scenarios in your head I really do,” Grace said, trying to get the attention off her. “Plus, what about you and Justin?”

“Please, Justin? He’s a little young for me, hot, yes, but still a little young, but he’s nice.”

“Ok, but there’s still nothing between me and Chris, he’s my best friend, come on.”

“Well like they say Gracie girl, a guy and a girl can be best friends but eventually they’re gonna like each other, maybe for a little while, maybe for a long time, maybe for an eternity, you think about that as you lay in bed tonight, goodnight,” Kayla said as Grace went into her bedroom and she got linens form the closet to put on the pullout bed.

“Chris has a crush…” Justin taunted as they all drove back to the hotel.

“Dude, what the hell are you talking about?” Chris questioned, what the heck would Justin know?

“You and Grace were all bumping and grinding,” He commented, laughing at himself while everyone else sat around clueless.

“Jus, shut up, you have no idea what you’re talking about, me and Grace have been best friend since before high school, so bite me,” he said testily. Whenever someone talked about Grace Chris had always gotten defensive, but there was something different when Justin had made his comment, it had hit a nerve in Chris.

Why as he feeling this way? Could Justin have been right? There was question after question floating around in Chris’s head and needed them to be answered or they may drive him crazy. Everyone was leaving in the morning and Chris knew he wasn’t going to get to see Grace for a long time after, now there only source of communication would be the phone. It was definitely going to be hard being apart again, but he knew he could do it and he wouldn’t let what had happened before happen again, they weren’t going to be torn apart.

Grace lay in her bed thinking about the night and all the feelings that had coursed through her body. Feelings of friendship, and love. Feelings of confusion and clarity. Everything contradicted something else, she was so confused. What was going on with her and Chris? Every time he touched her she felt something. Every time he talked she couldn’t help but smile at the voice she had learned to love over the years.

What am I going to do She thought, running her hands over her face.

Grace lay there for a while longer, letting all the fears and questions she had flow through her head before falling into a troubled sleep.

Sorry it’s so short, but still, Please review!
