Chapter Nine

“You know Jus, I was thinking…” Cait told him.

This could be dangerous,” He joked.

”Shut up,” She slapped him playfully. “Anyways, I was thinking that whenever it is that you get back form this stupid recording session I’m taking you away.” She finished.

“Ooh…Where we going?” He asked like an excited child.

“That’s the surprise,” Cait said, giving him a kiss and getting up.”

“You’re pure evil.” Justin told her, following her and wrapping his arms around her waist, burying his face in her neck.

“AAHH! Justin, stop. STOP!”

“Tell me where…”

“NEVER!” she told him quickly running out of his arms as he chased her around the house and into the backyard before tackling her to the ground and tickling her.

“Come on, baby, tell me, tell me…”

“NEVER!” She laughed out.

“I hope you enjoy pee in your pants…”

“I hope you like abstinence…”

“I do...now tell me!”

“Justin…stop tickling me!”

“Tell me where you’re going to take me!”

“FINE! If you stop, I tell.” She told him.

”Alright IS topped but I'm not letting you up.” He informed her, straddling her.

“UGH! Fine, you ruin all the surprises, I was going to take you to Acapulco.”

“Are you fricking serious?!?”

“No I'm lying.”

“I LOVE YOU!” He said giving her a kiss.

“Mmm…we’re not going for at least a few months now Justin so calm down.”

”True, but now I have something to look forward to while I’m in that booth singing all those songs for you!”

“You’re the biggest suck up I’ve ever met! But it’s ok baby, I love you anyways.” Cait told him, placing a kiss on his lips.

JC left for California with the rest of the group to begin recording the new album. Meanwhile, Whitney sat around moping, noting having meaning anymore. Without JC she was somewhat lost. Nothing was quite the same anymore. She didn’t have the same passion about life. Everyone had begun to take notice. Cait and Andrea had both confronted her about it, but not know where they should go. How could they help someone not willing to be helped?
Whitney simply didn’t care, what were they supposed to do?

Weeks passed and there were no phone calls, no e-mails, no contact at all between Whitney and JC. As everyday passed things seemed to get a little easier for both, not wanting that phone call to come as much every night, not feeling the emptiness inside that once had been there. Things were starting to become like they had been before they had each other in their lives. Friends were the most important thing, things had different meanings, it was difficult but good for the pair.

Whitney found herself going out at night and having fun with friends instead of feeling the need to sit around and mope because he wasn’t there. She was kind of enjoying the freedom that she now held, and was something she would never take for granted again.

She thought JC was the love of her life, but could she have been wrong?

JC began joke around with the guys more. The songs held more meaning when he sang, there was more passion to his voice than there ever had been before. He was beginning to enjoy just having him and his friends instead of having to think before doing everything when around a woman, and thinking about feelings. It was too much hard work. He had loved Whitney once, but as far as he was concerned those feelings were gone.

“Hey!” Justin said into the phone as he and Cait talked.

“Hey sweetie, how are ya?” She asked.

“I'm alright and how about you?”

“You know, I'm doing ok,” She answered. “How’s the man?”

“Actually he’s doing good, I think he’s begun to move on finally. What about Whit?”

“the same thing seems to be happening with her. But Jus I'm scared.”

“Why? Everything seems to be good now why are scared now?”

“Yeah, but what about when you guys some back in a week, when they see each other, are you sure everything will be so peachy then?”

“Maybe not, but for now they seems to be good so enjoy it while it lasts.”

“Yeah, I will.”

“Good, now it’s my turn to sing so I have to go, I’ll be in touch soon and I’ll see you next week! I love you baby,” Justin told her.

“NEXT WEEK! I love you too, hon, bye!” Cait smiled, everything at that moment seemed perfect.

“I missed you guys so much!” Cait said as she, Whitney, Andrea and all of the guys sat around the table.

“Oh, of course you did!” Chris joked. “Are you guys all ready for this baby?” JC asked. “I think so, we got a few things to put together, but I think it’ll all be ok.” Andi answered. “Good, I know I’m excited about it!” He said as everyone laughed.

Soon after everyone got up and left the restaurant, a certain couple feeling an empty void in their hearts where love had once filled.

Whitney was all of the sudden feeling feelings she thought she had overcome, feelings of emptiness and betrayal. Feelings of confusion and heartache. Feelings she hoped she would never have to feel again but feelings she knew wouldn’t go away until she talked to a certain someone who, little did she know, still held her heart.

“I told you it would happen.” Cait told Justin.

“I know, I know, and I knew it too, but what can we do?” He asked.

“we have to keep them together as much as possible. Maybe then they’ll break down and talk to each other.”

“I don’t know, I mean I know that JC hated being at even the same table as Whit for a couple hours tonight, imagine them being together all the time, I'm afraid there might be a big fight.”

“Maybe that’s what they need, all I know is that they need to be in close proximity, where they can’t avoid each other as much as possible. It’s all I can think really think it’ll work so that she explodes at him or something.”

“Alright, fine, but just be careful, Cait, this may just backfire and it won’t be pretty.”

“I know Justin, I’ve thought about it, and I’d rather have her mad at me than at the one person who she truly loves.” Cait told him with a sad sigh.

“Look, things an only go two ways,” He started, grabbing her hands. “Either they do blow up at each other and then eventually make up, or she figures out what you’re doing, gets pissed you’re interfering in her love life, even if it is for her own good, and blows up at YOU, of course you’ll be friends again within hours but still…”

“Wow Jus, that was intelligent,” Cait rolled her eyes. “Look, I know what I'm getting into, I just can’t sit by and watch this happen, they’re both my friends and having to split y time because they’re acting childish is ridiculous, I'm not gonna do it again, I can’t.” She told him, leaning forward and resting her forehead on his chest.

He placed a soft kiss on the top of her head, “alright, then why don’t go out and take everyone along with us, have some fun, I missed you ya know?”

“I missed you too, baby, tons!” Cait confessed. “Now where are we going?”

“Oh, it’s surprise.” He teased.

“Oh, no it’s not, asshole, tell me now or I’ll leave your ass on the side of the road and go find some other guy.”

“You would never do that to me!”

“Don’t doubt it…”

“Whatever, we’re going out to do some WILD dancing, so go get on some sexy clothes and I’ll call the guys and see who wants to go, JC won’t have a choice don’t worry.”

“Good, I’ll be back in a few.” She said, giving him a kiss and getting up to go get ready.

“JC, dance would you?” Cait said, trying desperately to get JC off his butt and on the dance floor.

“I'm not in the mood, I don’t know why you dragged me here.” He replied.

“Because you need it,” she started. “God JC! Can’t you see that there’s a girl out there who absolutely loves you, almost as much as you love her?”

“Where is she?” he asked searching. “Because OI don’t see anyone loving me.”

“You and your damn pride. Can’t you just admit you were fricking wrong! That you made a mistake, JC, she loves you and you know I’m talking about, just talk to her for God’s sake! Make both your lives easier.” Cait yelled at him.

“No, I won’t, I'm not going to be with someone who doesn’t trust me, geeze Cait, give me some slack here, I had just as hard a time as she did, but I pulled myself out of it and am fine now.”

“No you’re not, I saw you last night, and earlier when you saw her in the car, you’re not fine, can we go outside?”

“Fine.” JC got out of the booth almost knocking Cait over and headed for the exit.

“Now, why won’t you just talk to her?” Cait asked.

“Because what do I say, Cait?”

“You tell her you were wrong and that you’re sorry for all the pain you’ve caused. JC, if you weren’t such a damned guy this would be so easy. I mean you know you need her just as much as she does you, come on give it a shot will you? Call her when we get home tonight, that gives you plenty of time to grow some balls.”

“Boy, that was SO funny.” JC said sarcastically.

“Yes I know, now how would you like to go do some dancing?” She questioned him.

“That depends, do I get to dance with this pretty lil thing?” He asked spinning her around and checking out her black leather pants and sparkly green tube top.

“That depends, are you gonna call Whitney later?”

JC sighed and smiled. “Alright, now let me have my dance.”

“Alright, let’s go,” Cait said, dragging him in by his hand and leading him straight to the dance floor.

“Hey And, you want to finish doing some stuff in the nursery?” Chris asked her as she sat on the ouch, putting her feet up.

“Sure, what do we have to do?” She asked, extending her hands so that Chris would help her up.

“Put together the changing table and the crib.” He answered.

“Oh, we might just need those, ha?”

“Oh, we might use them a couple times at least, but they’re not too important are they?”

“Good point.” Andi said as they both laughed.

“Come one let’s get to it.”

Soon, they had erected the crib and were halfway through the crib when Andrea told Chris, “I think it’s time, baby.”

“You’re sure?” He asked, grabbing onto her.

“Yes, I'm DAMN sure, now grab the bag and get me to the damn hospital!” she yelled.

“Alright, come one.” He brought her out to the car and ran back inside to get her hospital bag. “Buckle up and get ready.” He said, putting the car into drive and peeling out of the driveway.
