The world is in a terrible state. With poverty killing over twenty million people every year through starvation, by curable disease, by homelessness, and by other poverty related afflictions. With most of the world's population in the deadly poverty cycle, the rest are similarly afflicted, tens of millions unemployed, walking on the edge of the thin divide between life and death, with millions of jobs threatened, with working conditions and wages dropping as fast as pricesb and taxes are being raised. With devastating wars being waged for no more reason than the oil and petroleum trade. With death and depression and a silent war being waged against dissidents of the so-called free world. With the blood of the many being spilled for the benefit of the few. The reason the world is like this is not because it has to be, it is not because it want's to be, it is because of a system forced onto us by wealthy and powerful men and maintained by armies, monopolised media, unjust laws, politicians lies, economic policy, corporate rule and a profit first, people last economic system. This sort of system has been called the Free Market, even though it has denied more people's freedoms than any dictator or police state to date. It is also called Neoliberalism, and "classical" economics, however, I prefer the term "Capitalism" to identify this bloodsoaked, murdering and exploiting system.
It does not have to be this way, there are alternatives. Good alternatives. Not Fascism or Fuedalism, not Tribalism or Totalitarianism, but a real alternative. This alternative may be called many things, but I will use the frequently misunderstood term, "Socialism". I would like to point out now that Socialism is not the system of the Soviet Union, or China, or any other country that says they have Socialism, for these countries have gone against every tenet of Socialism and have dragged it's name along with them as their dictators purge dissidents and their people starve and die through the same exploitation that exists in Capitalism. For Socialism's beliefs, it's real beliefs are not the violent and corrupted slogans of the old "Red" dictators, but are ones that everyone would agree with. The beliefs of Socialism are Life, Freedom, Justice, Equality, Democracy, Cooperation, and a lot more. If you agree with these ideals than you agree with Socialism.
Capitalism has failed, Fascism has failed, Fuedalism has failed, Stalinism has failed, Socialism will not. Through all the arguments that have have been presented, Socialism has won them. Through all the repression and supression, Socialism has survived. Socialism must work for humanity to survive. Socialism can, will, and should work. For this we should all work together, and as we fight to end this era of death and destruction and create a free, just, and equal world we will have these words on our lips:
