Disappearances

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Action/Adventure Rated PG-13. Quebec Bill Bohomme is a hardy schemer and dreamer, who, desperate to raise money to preserve his endangered herd through the rapidly approaching winter, resorts to whiskey-smuggling, a traditional family occupation. Quebec Bill takes his son, Wild Bill, on the journey. Also Henry Coville, an inscrutable whiskey smuggler, and Rat Kinneson, Quebec Bill's perpetually disconsolate ex-con hired man. Together, they cross the border into vast reaches of Canadian wilderness for an unforgettable four days "full of terror, full of wonder." Disappearances does what not many film's today do, it makes you think, it's the kind of adventure film that leaves the viewer to decide in the end what this and that meant. It's too often today that we see movies that tell us what to think and it's refreshing to have a well made film that is intelligent enough not to insult the viewer. There's a lot going for this little film, first off it's cast is brilliant, I felt this was Kris Kristofferson's best role to date and he's been in a lot of films that he was damn good in. The rest of the cast including Lothaire Bluteau,Genevičve Bujold and Luis Guzmán were fantastic as well. Also lets not forget to mention the beautiful Vermont landscapes that played a big part in this film, it is simply breath-taking. So if your looking for some Hollywood Blockbuster that requires no thing avoid this film but if your looking for something intelligent, fun and beautiful with a fantastic cast that really entertains then pick up Disappearances today, you will be glad you did.
