Drama Rated R. Pregnant forensic psychologist Lydie Crane is hired to learn the truth behind the case of 16-year-old Stephanie Daley, who is accused of concealing her pregnancy and murdering her infant. We have our run of the mill movies week after week but once in a long while a film comes out that not only educates the viewer but sets a new standard in film-making, Stephanie Daley is one of those films. It's part drama, part mystery and towards the end it turns to an intense thriller. There's so much to like here from the film's fantastic script to it's beautiful cinematography and last but not least to it's amazing cast. Amber Tamblyn is simply amazing as Stephanie Daely and it's no surprise she won the Silver Leopard best actress award at the Locarno International Film Festival for it. She has a very bright career ahead of her and a lot of awards as well. Tilda Swinton is one of the best actresses around and I cannot help but wonder why she did not receive an award for her role here as a forensic psychologist, Lydie Crane. She is truly an amazing talent and a joy to watch no matter what film she is in. This is a film that not only captivates but can also be a teaching tool to both parents and young teens today. This is a remarkable film and one of the best movies I have seen in 2007, I cannot recommend this masterpiece enough.
