Macbeth

Drama/Thriller NR. A contemporary retelling of Shakespeare's "Macbeth" set in the ganglands of Melbourne. Take Shakespeare's Classic tale "Macbeth" and bring it all the way into 2005 Melbourne and you get this 2006 re-telling that has some good moments about it. The film starts off violent and in your face but later it settles into a more surreal mood as well as the characters seem to settle into their lord and noble roles more which makes the film a little more believable even with they gun at hand. The cast is very good including Sam Worthington as Macbeth and Victoria Hill does a fine job as well in her role as Lady Macbeth. The rest of the supporting cast are up to par and all make their character's real. A few things I found wrong or at least flaws in the movie were the movie seemed to take place in just several locations instead of using the beautiful scenery around them. Also the camera work at times was annoying but they are both small flaws in an other all pretty entertaining film. I can't say this film is for everyone but those interested in Shakespeare are going to want to check this out just to be curious if nothing else. If your got an open mind I think you will find least to be at least entertaining. Union Station Media/Starz Home Entertainment. *** 1/2 Out Of *****
