For six long years, Hamilton High School seniors Kelly, Jude, Wendy, and Nick have been hiding the truth of what happened to ten-year-old Robin Hammond the day her broken body was discovered near an old abandoned convent. The foursome kept secret how they taunted Robin - backed her into a corner until, frightened, she stood on a window ledge... and fell to her death. Though an accident, the then-twelve-year-olds feared they'd be held responsible and vowed never to tell. But someone else was there that day... watching. And now, that someone is ready to exact murderous revenge-on prom night. Echo Bridge does it once again bringing the Slasher gem "Prom Night" to DVD just in time for the Halloween season. The film Jamie Lee Curtis which is her third role as a scream queen, also you have Leslie Nielsen in a dramatic role as Hamilton High School principal and Jamie's father. The film opens as the young Robin Hammond, who is Jamie Lee's character's little sister falls too her death from a two story window after being cornered by a group of kids trying to scare her. Scared themselves they make a pact to take what really happened to the grave. The kids are never suspected of this wrong doing but it seems someone else seen what had happened and we shoot ahead twelve years and the kids are now getting ready for their prom night, but each begin to receive a phone call with a raspy asking them to "come out and play", worried at first the kids soon forget the calls and focus on the prom. Nick, one of the kids involved is going to the prom with Jamie Lee and the secret is still kept from everyone. As the prom moves along the kids begin getting killed off one by one by someone with revenge on their mind. The film is not without it's flaws, like how can the kids can be friends of Kim and never tell her the truth behind what happened to her younger sister but hey it's a slasher film you I have see a lot worse story lines before and since the film came out. One of the fun parts about this film is the mystery in holds, you keep guessing till the very end who the killer is. Well, most may have already seen this classic and know the out come but for those that never seen it this is a highly entertaining 80's slasher flick with some very good lead acting and great atmosphere. Also for those that only know Leslie Nielsen as a comedian this will give you an idea of his more dramatic work which is did a lot of in his younger days. Prom Night is a welcomed addition to DVD and worth owning if your a fan of the genre. The DVD is bare-bones but the transfer is pretty good considering the age of the film and will be a nice replacement to those vhs tapes most own of the movie right now. Released by Echo Bridge Home Entertainment. **** Out Of *****
