Horror Unrated. A backpacking trip in Brazil turns dangerous for Alex (Josh Duhamel), Pru (Melissa George) and four of their college pals when they find themselves held captive by a radical military gang in this gripping thriller. The terrified friends fear they may never make it home alive when their captors prove that they'll do anything it takes to complete their ruthless mission. I think all the bad reviews come from this being too much like Hostel but given the chance it does have it's own identity. Set in exotic Brazil the film is really nice on the eyes, at least when the mayhem isn't happening. But when they mayhem begins it is often times brutal and the film builds nice suspense that leaves you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. Turistas is by no chance a master piece but it is an entertaining and often violent film with some very realistic death scenes. But most of all I was never bored and in the end I found this to be a fun film which I am sure any fan of the genre will do the same.
