The film tells the story of Will Stanton, a young man who learns he is the last of a group of warriors who have dedicated their lives to fighting the forces of the Dark. With the Dark once again rising, the future of the world rests in Will's hands.

Well let's do the bad and get it out of the way, the film version of the classic book is not a very good one, it simply does not follow the book very well to say the least. Half the scenes in the film are not even in the book. There's many other details that are completely different from the book and for that reason alone those of you that read the book will not like this film at all. Ok, now for those that did not read the book, you should enjoy the film for what it is, kids will like and be able to relate to the young boy. As an adult that enjoys this type of good versus evil movies I enjoyed it for what it was. The film was well paced and and the effects were pretty well done as well as the acting which was very good. There's not much more you can ask for from such a film, it's just too bad they decided to stray away from the original story so much as that was their core fan base going into this film. Fan's of fantasy will want to check this one out and it is a film the family can watch together which is never a bad thing, just beware if you read the book before hand you might be disappointed in the film version but with an open-mind you too might also find the film entertaining as well. Released by 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment. *** 1/2 Out Of *****
