Four hyped-up teams of contestants compete to win a violent cross-country race in this action-packed sci-fi flick. Living in a grim future world in which life is cheap, the racers will do anything to win. Even killing competitors off while pushing their vehicles to go the distance is not against the rules and is probably the only way to prevail.

When I first found out that Universal Pictures was doing a remake of the 1975 classic "Death Race 2000" I was a bit excited, but in the end the film is just too different and goes down a completely different path than the original. So you have to know how excited I really was when The Asylum Jumped on to do their own version, I mean what better studio to do such a remake is there really? Well for starters the DVD box-art really got me fired up both in design and the cast listing, I mean could there be a better cast for such a remake as Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope of Insane Clown Posse star, along with former WWE star Raven. It is perfect, so does the movie deliver? I guess that all will depend on who is watching it and what they are expecting to see but I can say this is about as close a remake to the original, filled with all the cartoon like violence and cheese as you are going to find. You get all the same type of ingredients here that made the original a classic, killings, yes over the top fun killings, gore, beautiful ladies and even a half man, half machine that does...well I will let you find that out for yourself. It seems that The Asylum is a target for so many haters out there, hell I have read bad reviews for some of their movies and they were not even out yet to see. The bottom line is if you want a 100 million dollar budget with every movie you see I feel sorry for you, The Asylum has made some very entertaining movies and Death Racers is another one, it is fun, fast, bloody and highly entertaining and as far as I am concerned there isn't much more you or I could ask for. The DVD comes with the Bonus Features:Original Widescreen Presentation, Making the Race Featurette, Making the Cars Featurette, Bloopers. Released by The Asylum Home Entertainment.
