Bryan Mills is ex-CIA who retired to spend more time in the U.S. closer to his 17-year-old daughter so he get build the relationship they never had due to his line of work. Amanda comes to her dad in hopes of him signing a consent form to allow her to travel with her friend Amanda to Paris. Bryan knows the world but gives in to his daughter and lets her go. It isn't long before the two girls meet what seems to be a charming young man that invites them to a party but he is not who he seems to be. When Kim decides to finally cal her dad as she promised it is right when a group of men break into their apartment and proceed to kidnap the girls. Now Bryan will need to use all his CIA training if he wants to get his daughter back alive.

Taken was a film that seemed to sneak up on everyone, there wasn't much of a buzz about it till a few weeks before it went to theaters but the film still went on to gross over $140 Million at box-office. There is good reason for this and there is a lesson that other studios in Hollywood can learn from hear, if you make a good film people will go to see it regardless of how well it is or isn't advertised. I have always bee a fan of Liam Neeson so without expecting a lot from this movie I was still eager to sit down to it. The film itself is will others such as The Bond series and the Bourne Series as well but Taken blew both of these out of the water as far as I am concerned. The film is filled with implausible action scenes and situations but if you take the movie for what it is then it delivers more thrills and action than any movie in recent memory. Liam takes his role as Bryan and he makes it his own and even in the action scenes he is excellent and he owns every scene he is in. Taken is a no nonsense, kick the crap out of everyone who gets in your way action movie. The action scenes kick major butt as well and I cannot imagine another actor playing the lead role here. The film was co-written by Luc Besson who I consider a master of action and you can see his trademark action scenes here as well without him directing this time around. Taken is a must see action film and it is easily in my top 10 movies of the year as far as providing pure entertainment. I highly suggest owning this movie today. The movie comes out a Two-Disc Set and a Single Disc Extended version as well as BLU-Ray. They both come with loads of extras that include:
