There were TONS of toys that made the '80s
great. Here's a few that made an impact on my life. Enjoy :-)
Air Jammer/Road Rammer
This thing was a GREAT toy for me. Just pump
it up, and watch it go! And boy, was it fast. Unfortunately, I don't have
a picture of the "sister/brother" toy to this, the Air Jammer/Cycle Scrammer,
but it was equally as awesome!
Rubik's Cube (duh!)
The Rubik's Cube provided hours of entertainment
and frustration to my family and I. The best person I knew at solving the
Rubik's Cube was Jay Stocki. He was hella fast! Cousins to this torturous
device was the Rubik's Snake and Rubik's Pyramid!
Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots!
Do you remember this device? It was an easy
way to "beat up" your little brothers, without getting into any trouble!
Cool!
Speak and Spell
This was a great learning tool. It would spell
out any words you didn't know for you. I still use this to write my web
pages!
The Little Professor
An older uncle to the Speak and Spell, this
was a nifty little calculator device. My cousin Amy had several of these
that I broke!
Shrinky Dinks
This was something that I had forgotten about. These were so cool. You just popped them into the oven, and watched them shrink! Thanks for reminding me about them!!!
Operation!
This was a great game to play with your friends
and family. If you got your fingers wet before you played, you could even
give yourself a nice shock. I know this because I used to have my brother's
do this before we would play. So what if I was mean?? You wanna play?
Don't Break the Ice!
Another great game. I'm thinking of getting
this game to play again. It's fun, and easy to play. You just can't "break
the ice!"
Transformers!
These things were definitely more than met
the eye! They converted into some cool things. Take for example Sound Wave
and here. They're a cassette player and a cassette. Great teamwork here!
Voltron!
An obvious rip-off of the Transformers, but
fun to play with nonetheless. I liked this particular toy a bit more than
my Transformers, because it was sturdier and made of better quality than
some of my crappier Transformers!
