CONTEMPORARY & MODERN ARCHITECTURE

With the various newly developed industrial materials and advances in technology and engineering, twentieth century architects were able to create unprecedented architectural forms. It looked toward simple, geometric forms with plain, undecorated surfaces. This alone was quite a diversion from previous norms, and with this new style architects such as Gropius, Wright, Loos, Gerrit, and many more flourished.

From the plain yet practical “Prairie Style” homes of Wright, to the many skyscrapers that scattered throughout the United States, to Gropius’ “Fagus Factory”, and the list continues. All of which is a slow evolution of structures from a historical “Bigger is Better” attitude to today’s “make sure what space you have is there for a reason”.
Architecture along with today’s social norms have come quite a long way!
