One of the reasons of the classical revival was the immoral extravagance that the Italian Baroque demonstrated. Therefore the Neo-Classical movement can be seen as a moral corrective, where a return to “austerity and simplicity” was advocated. This new movement craved geometrical symmetry, much like Palladio’s style.

When the topic of decorative style, the Neo-Classical movement brought forth architects such as Robert Adam who became tremendously popular at interior renovations. Adam used an intensely decorative style, yet he place great emphasis on the geometry of his work which made him a hit with the new movement. It was also during the Neo-Classical movement that landscape design became tremendously popular.
