ROMAN ARCHITECTURE
The Ancient World
509BC-330AD

Seen to many as the next step in evolutionary refinement, the conquering and powerful race of the Romans brought about a new conception of planning. With their uses of beams and arches, along with new methods of construction, the Romans were able to create massive ceiling and other areas with no intermediete supports.

Most Roman architects are know for their elaborate and expensive temples, palaces, and tombs, but many of their greatests strengths is related to efficiency not expense or grandeur. The Sanctuary of Fortuna Primigenia is an example of a magnificent feat with efficiency in mind. Instead of using stone they used concrete which is cheaper to transport and work with considering you do not the skilled workers that you would working with stone. The Romans cared greatly for their people and based their very architecture around the greatness of their people, almost to a point as the Greeks did.
