FEATURED BAND OF THE WEEK

Metal is a theatrical, powerful and passionate medium. A voice of expression dependent on experience and pain, usually reaching down to the darkest areas of the soul. But this is not just any metal... this is Titanium Black.

***National Music News***

MTV.com has uploaded a 90-second video featuring some of the "Battle for Ozzfest" audition rejects. See the bands that didn't make the cut at this location. The brainchild of Emmy award-winning producer Sharon Osbourne, "Battle for Ozzfest" is a new, weekly, unscripted series, chronicling the intense nationwide search for eight hard rock bands competing for the chance to perform on stage on Ozzfest's worldwide 10th Anniversary tour. In addition to the opportunity of a lifetime by sharing the stage with Ozzy Osbourne himself as well as other rock superstars, the winning band will receive touring money, brand new band gear and a possible record deal. In the premiere episode, Sharon and Ozzy turn the competition upside-down as there's one big twist that the bands don't know about — and that's just a taste of things to come. To find out, watch the premiere of "Battle for Ozzfest" on MTV on Monday, October 25 at 10:30 p.m. (ET/PT).

MUDVAYNE will be filming a video for their new single, "Fucking Determined", on Sunday, October 17 at The Avalon (formerly the Limelight), located at 20th St. & 6th Ave in New York City. The video shoot, which is open to the public, will begin at approximately 1:00 p.m. To attend, send an e-mail to MudvayneVideo@aol.com (attendance requests will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis).
"Fucking Determined" is the first single off the group's upcoming album, tentatively due in early 2005. The follow-up to 2002's gold-certified "The End of All Things to Come" (2002) was recorded at The Plant studio in Sausalito, California with producer Dave Fortman (former UGLY KID JOE guitarist), who has previously worked with SUPERJOINT RITUAL and EVANESCENCE, among others.

Former MEGADETH and current F5 bassist David Ellefson will appear at the Bass Player magazine's 15-year anniversary event on Saturday, October 16 in New York. David will be a guest clinician covering skills and concepts of rock bass playing at the Bass Player Live event beginning at 12:00 p.m. More information is available at www.bassplayerlive.com. In other news, Ellefson will appear the "Friday Night Rocks" show on New York's Q104.3 FM on October 15 after 11:00 p.m. EST and XM Radio's "Saturday Night Rocks" on October 16, airing live nationwide on XM channel 41 8:00 p.m. to midnight EST.

As exclusively reported by BLABBERMOUTH.NET on September 10, reunited New York metal band LIFE OF AGONY have finally confirmed that they have signed a deal with Epic Records. Ben Goldman, Senior Vice President of A&R for Epic, signed the group on the strength of their four-song demo featuring the songs "Love To Let U Down", "The Day he Died", "Justified" and "The Calm That Disturbs You". Check out photos from the signing, which took place on September 21, at this location.
The band, who were previously signed to Roadrunner Records, will shortly enter the studio to begin recording their first album of new material since 1997's "Soul Searching Sun", tentatively due in early 2005.
