Det är de två långa låtarna som egentligen är bäst på skivan. Southpaw är som två låtar i en. Ungefär på samma sätt som i We´ll let you know eller, för all del (...), Miserable lie. Skillnaden är att den här blir lugnare. Märkligt intro som förmodligen inte är gjort på speciellt många tagningar. Jag tycker om början överhuvudtaget, de plockande gitarrerna innan Morrissey börjar sjunga. Apropå tagningar, efter 2.33 gör Spencer ett enormt misstag som man inte orkar rätta till, jag orkar inte förklara, ni får lyssna efter själva. Till skillnad från i de kortare låtarna på skivan så är inte upprepningarna enerverande, bara vackra. De sista textraderna är de vackraste på hela skivan, ibland inbillar jag mig till och med att de är bland de vackraste Morrissey skrivit. Arrangemanget är fullständigt massivt och man tappar nästan andan. Märkligt att bandet var så nonchalanta i början av låten. Det måste vara två tagningar; en bakfylletagning och en när de just börjat bli riktigt fulla...
