Biography

The Lost Cause was formed in November of 2000. At that time it only consisted of a drummer (Clint) and me on guitar and vocals (Andy). We played upstairs in my housedoing covers songs and a few originals that I had wrote. We played at the homecoming dance of my senior year and created havoc in the crowd. We were helped out on bass by my friend Jared. Finally we decided to acquire a bass player. So we looked around and no one, I mean no one, played bass. So we decided to look at are friend to see who had the punk look going on. So we asked our friend Clint W. to try the bass out for a little while. It ended up working out and he is still with us to this day. We then decided to start expanding are industry by looking for places in the surrounding area. Since its Montana we don’t really have a lot of places that allow punk music, we found a couple of places like Jay’s Upstairs and Higgins Hall in Missoula. After about a month or so people became really receptive to our music and our popularity shot up in our home town. One of my friends who played in a different band really enjoyed our music and attended almost every show that we did. At that time there was talk about getting a second guitarist. So at one of are gigs I asked him if he would like to try out for are band. He seemed really into it and that’s how we ended up becoming a four piece band. In June of 2001 we decided to record a six song demo called Dirty Songs For A Clean Mind. We recorded and mixed it in two and a half days in Hamilton with producer Russell Peri. The first day of sales was great because we were still in high school and people wanted to hear it bad. So we sold about sixty copies and got to sign a lot of autographs. We’ve played over thirty gigs in a half a years time including opening for the Vans Warped Tour.
