Pan over New York and see the roofs and the roads below covered in a light layer of snow.

Fade to The Centre that has been named "NEW DAYS". Pan down to Alex and Craig holding some boxes looking up at the sign

Craig - I can't believe it! You actually followed my suggestion.

Alex - I feel it reflects our cause. I thought it over and realized you were right. We're trying to work toward a better future. We make a promise with every new day!

Craig - You used it because there was a lack of a better names didn't you?

Alex - (guilty) Yeah

Pan up the building past the sign to the window of Eve's apartment. Pan forward in though the window. Inside Eve is kneeling on the floor in front of a small shrine to Eli. She is praying. It is silent until there is a loud knock at the door.

Eve let's out an annoyed sigh and gets up and opens the door

Eve - Yes?

Alex - Hi( uncomfortable silence) Is there something wrong?

Eve - I was praying

Alex - I didn't mean to disturb you but I come bearing a gift!

Eve - (smiles and roles her eyes a little) Okay you have my attention. Come on in.

Eve opens the door all the way and Alex comes in with a big box and Craig comes in behind her struggling with two smaller boxes under his arms

Eve - Alex! You're a god and you're making Craig carry the heavier boxes!

Craig - Alex is carrying the heavier box.

Eve - Oh. What is this stuff?

Craig - A computer. With your new faith site up on the net we figured you'd like to run it from the comfort of your own home.

Eve - I still don't have that much of an idea of what to do with those things. I barely know how to turn it on.

Alex - Which brings us to your second gift. We got you enrolled in some courses at a community college. Computers 101 and Community Studies.

Eve - Don't you think that's a lot to take on? I mean there's patrolling and running the centre and my mission . . .

Craig - The computer course will help you learn how to run your site and believe us when we say learning how to use a computer in general is a useful skill. The community studies will also help you to better understand the people and the societal structures of this age. With regards to the centre, Alex will ease you into working here and patrolling is all of our responsibility.

Eve Craig and Alex hear the door bell from downstairs that signals someone has come in to the centre

Alex - (rolls her eyes)Ugh! Someone should go see who that is. (makes a move to head through the door)

Eve - Great! I'll do that! You guys can set up the computer!

Eve runs out before Craig and Alex had a chance to react

Alex - Hey!!

Cut to the fully equipped and brightly painted Centre. A woman with red wavy hair and brown eyes dressed in red walks in slowly. She examines her surroundings. Eve walks in from the backroom

Eve - Can I help you?

The woman turns to Eve and regards her coolly. Eve shifts under to rude stare.

Eve - Um . . . we aren't open yet. We'll be open at the beginning of next week but is there anything I can help you with in the meantime?

Woman - I hope so. I'm looking for a Craig Summers.

Eve - And you are?

Woman - My name is Karen. It's important I speak to Craig.

Eve - (being cautious) He's busy. Can I take a message?

Karen - (sighs) I'm here about a set of swords he acquired.

Eve - Swords?

Karen - Yes, they're called the Phoenix Swords and as heir I've come to claim them.

Eve - What?

Karen - Is Craig here or not?

Craig bounds in through the backroom door

Craig - Hey Eve, are you . . . ( stops dead in his tracks at the sight of Karen) Karen! Wha . . What are you doing here?

Karen - You contacted me Craig, so I think you know.

Craig - But . . . You didn't even respond. I wasn't expecting you! How'd you know I was here?

Karen - You weren't at your apartment and when I checked with your family, Serena said you might be here. Do you really think I'd wait on something like this?

Craig - (quietly) I told you in the email, they're safe . . . at least one of them is.

Eve - She said she's here for the Phoenix Swords.

Craig - (sighs) Well she is entitled. She's the rightful Heir.

Karen - We shouldn't be talking about it in the open like this.

Craig - (sighs) Eve, this is my cousin Karen. Karen meet Eve . . . the Messenger of Eli

Karen - The Messenger of Eli? (looks closely at Eve and gasps slightly. She shakes her head) Craig, what have you done now?

Craig - It's not what you're thinking.

Karen - I thinking you're messing with things far beyond your knowledge. Just when I think it couldn't get any worse with Alex you go and turn into your brother!

Craig - ENOUGH!

Craig shocks both Eve and Karen with his outburst. Karen looks at him wide eyed

Craig - That was a low blow and you know it. And as far as Eve is concerned, I knew exactly what I was doing by bringing her here . . . (sighs and pulls his thoughts together) But I'm not arguing with you about that. There's something I need to tell you about the Phoenix Swords.

Karen - Like what? Do you have them or not?

Craig - One was destroyed. Raven got loose. We destroyed the dark Phoenix sword but . . .

Karen - But what? If the sword was destroyed why wasn't Raven's spirit destroyed along with it?

Craig - (surprised at Karen's calm reaction) That's the thing. She possessed Eve. She used Eve's body and enacted a ritual that was able to extract her spirit from the sword. She's no longer connected to it.

Karen - How were you able to destroy the sword? Its near indestructible.

Eve - I didn't destroy it exactly. I banished it and its power to Hell.

Karen - So its still intact. And the Phoenix Sword could call the dark one back, since one acts as a beacon for the other

Craig- (confused)Why bother? Raven would just come after it. She could still come for the original.

Karen - All the more reason to keep the first sword safe. I want it.

Alex comes in

Alex - Hey, what's going on down here? I'm setting that computer up all by my . . . .(sees Karen) Oh I see now.

Karen -(venomous stare) Alex

Alex -(smiles smugly) It.

Craig pinches the bridge of his nose while Eve covers her mouth to keep from laughing out loud while Alex and Karen give each other cold stares

Craig - Uh . . . Come on Karen. We should go.

Karen gives one final glare at Alex then turns to follow Craig out.

Eve- I sensed a little tension there

Alex - Karen and I have never been on the best of terms. She always thought I was a bad influence on Craig. . . tried to push me out of his life more than once.

Eve - Your bond it too strong for that. (More serious) But you know . . . I sense something from her. I can't shake it. She seems so false. I feel like she is covering up something . . . sinister.

Alex - That's just her every day personality. She has resting bitch face. Don't worry about it. Now, come on. You and I are setting up that computer.

Eve- Arghhhh.

Fade to later in Craig's apartment. Craig and Karen walk in. Craig walks up to his book shelf. He takes out a book and opens it. The book is hollow. In it he has placed a key. He puts the book back then takes out another book. The book case open slightly to reveal a hollowed out room in which there is a cabinet. Craig unlocks the cabinet with the key. He opens it and reveals the Phoenix Sword. He steps aside to allow Karen to see. She pushes him out of the way and is about to grab hold of the sword but she stops. She hesitates and her hand falls away from the sword. She steps back.

Karen - You were wise to hide it like you did. I doubt even Raven would have found it . . .if she were looking.

Karen is about to take ahold of the sword again.

Craig - Karen wait.

Karen - What for? I should take this and leave

Craig - Couldn't you stay for a while?

Karen - I go where I'm needed and never stay where I'm not wanted.

Craig - I know how you feel about Alex and that you still have your reservations about me but you haven't been here for the last several years. Alex and I have changed and we're fulfilling the calling, the calling of the Evans family and we're doing it with the Messenger of Eli by our side.

Karen - What are you suggesting?

Craig - I would like you to see what I do. You'll see how great Eve is and how Alex has grown up and changed. You can see for yourself what we've been doing instead of being so disapproving all the time

Karen looks at Craig blankly for a moment like she is confused about what he is talking about. Then her head cocks to the left slightly like she just realized something.

Karen - Sure

All that went unnoticed by Craig. He was just relieved that Karen said yes.

COMMERCIAL

Cut to the Centre. Alex is there punching the punching bag furiously while Eve is just standing there watching, slightly wincing at how hard she is punching the bag. Craig and Karen walk in

Craig - Hey, what's going on?

Eve - We decided to take a little break. We're having a little trouble setting up the computer and we're getting a bit frustrated.

Alex begins punching the bag harder

Eve - Alex, you're going to break a hole in that thing!

She stops and leans against the bag panting. She sees Karen standing there

Alex - Didn't she get the Phoenix Sword? Why is she still here?

Craig - I convinced her to stay awhile. I want her to witness our mission in action so she can see the good we're doing. If you can be civil maybe she can get to know Eve and you a little better.

Alex - (sarcasm)Oh Joy. I'm looking forward to bonding.

Craig - Look, I will set up the computer. Then we can get ready for tonight's patrol. Karen can come with us

Karen - Actually, Craig I am here for a few days . . . .

Alex - Don't remind me

Karen - (Scowls at Alex but continues on) I'd like to take tonight to settle in. Thank you for letting me stay at your apartment by the way. Tomorrow night I'll join, but you still go out. Don't let me hold you back.

Craig nods and smiles

Craig - Come on Eve. Let's take a look at that computer.

Craig walks up to Eve's apartment but before Eve goes up she gives a look to Karen. She still suspects something although not sure what.

Karen looks at Alex pushing the punching bag watching it sway slightly. Karen makes a move to walk over to Alex when Alex punches a large hole in the center of the bag. Sand from the bag spills all over the floor and Karen stands back startled. Alex looks over to Karen

Alex - I better go clean that up(turns and leaves to room)

Cut to the evening we pan over the city at dusk. We then cut to out side Craig's apartment building. Eve is zipping up her jacket hopping around slightly trying to get warm. Alex is swinging a sword around.

Eve - I'm never going to get used to these temperatures.

Alex - No pain, no gain.

Eve - Easy for you to say. You don't feel much pain.

Alex - Hey, a bullet in the stomach ain't exactly a picnic.

Craig walks out side and stands between the two.

Craig - Are we ready to role?

Eve - It's a shame Karen couldn't come along

Alex - Yeah, my heart is breaking. Can we go?

Craig - I'd glad she's agreed to stay a few days. And it might be better that she's using tonight to get settled in. It'll give Alex a chance to get used to the idea that she's here.

Alex - Gee thanks. Actually, I think she should come with us tonight

Craig - (surprised) Are you serious?

Alex - Yeah. As much as I hate to admit she's strong and a good warrior. We'd have an edge with her and the phoenix sword.

Craig - (nods) I could run it by her. Alright I'll go up and . . .

Eve- Oh I'll do it( runs over to the door) I need to get out of this cold.

Eve leaves Alex and Craig just standing there

Alex - I wish she'd stop doing that

Cut to Eve getting out of the elevator. She walks down the hall and straight into Craig's apartment. She sees candles lit, smells the incense and finds Karen holding the Phoenix sword and chanting in an ancient language while dark shadows circle the room.

Eve - WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?

At Eve's yell Karen drops the sword and the shadow like ghosts fade from the room. Her concentration has been broken and she turns around in fury

Karen - YOU STUPID CHILD!

Eve - What were you doing?

Karen - You have no idea what you've done!

Eve - Really? I think I stopped you from summoning evil. I know the language you were chanting in. You were casting a spell to resurrect an ancient power.

Karen - What? (looking flustered) I was simply doing an incantation to make the Phoenix sword stronger until you interrupted.

Eve - I'm not the stupid child you think I am. You were chanting in Egyptian, Latin and a language only the Amazons use when they summon the spirit world of the damned. Why are you messing with dangerous forces?

Karen - You have no idea of the forces you mess with everyday. You can't beat them "fair and square" because they don't play fair.

Eve - And how would you do it?

Karen - You have to beat them on their own level.

Eve - You were trying to get back the Dark Phoenix weren't you? You can't believe that embracing that much darkness would be a good thing. It would overtake you.

Karen - I've been fighting the forces of evil a long time. If you want to beat them, you need power. Dark forces have more power then we've ever dreamed. We can use it against them and finally defeat them.

Eve - (shakes her head) No, this isn't they way.

Karen - What are you going to do? Tell Craig? Do you really think he would believe you over me. We're blood.

Eve - Blood isn't always thicker than water.

Karen - (scoffs) Craig understands the lengths we as warriors must go to. I don't think he'd be judging me too harshly especially since he broke all sorts of Karmic rules to bring you here!

Eve - He summoned me to fight for good. You're talking about embracing the dark

Karen - Power is everything. If you want to go on your little futile quests to rid the world of evil go for it. I do this for Craig's sake. He would want more power to help him in his mission. To convince him otherwise would lead him to his death. Do you want that?

At these words Eve becomes terrified. She shakes her head and runs out of the apartment.

Cut to lobby of the apartment building. Craig and Alex were waiting

Craig - Hey, what took you so long?

Eve - Karen was busy. Let's just go(walks out the door)

Craig - Eve?

Cut to Craig's apartment. Karen is once again chanting in ancient dialects and dark shadows are swirling around the room in massive numbers. The dark shadows come together into one big bulk and a flame from the candle shoot up into the bulk and a portal opens. From the portal we hear screams of agony and see red fire. The portal closes and dark shadows form the shape of a sword and settle on the Phoenix sword. It only takes a moment and the Phoenix sword duplicates and now there are two. But one sword has black wings. Karen picks up the sword with black wings and smiles

Cut to the park just as Eve sends another demon to hell. However, she looks uneasy and distracted

Craig - Eve is there something wrong? You've been distracted since we left the apartment. Did Karen say something to you?

Eve - (dismisses the question) Craig do you ever wish there was faster, easier way to do this?

Craig- All the time. But nothing worth doing is easy.

Eve- What if there was a way?

Craig- Then it's a cheap shortcut. We're trying to rid the world of evil, bring back people's faith, protect god given freedoms, showing people a better way. These tasks are monumental and daunting, they must be done with care and over time.

Eve - Shouldn't we fight fire with fire?

Craig - Fire fighters fight fire with water. In the same way our job can't be done fighting evil with evil. If we were to fight on the same level we'd be no better then the ones we fight. We'd be hypocrites. Then we'd lose what we're fighting for. It has to be done on our own terms so we don't lose sight of what is right and good. Do you understand?

Eve- (nods) Craig, Karen is using a short cut

Craig - What?

Eve - I know you might not want to believe me because she's your cousin but I saw her. She is conjuring. She's trying to bring back the dark Phoenix sword.

Craig - (stunned) Why?

Eve - She said she was going to use it to fight demons, she said you wouldn't judge her since you messed with karmic powers to bring me back.

Craig - I was presented with the option by priests at the temple of Eli, there were spells in my grandmother's spell book, you wouldn't have been allowed to come here if the spell wasn't meant to work. You're here by grand design, a chance to balance the forces that shift toward evil. Why would Karen want to shift the scales by bringing back the dark Phoenix sword?

Eve - Maybe there's more then what she led on?

Craig - (turns around) We're going back to my apartment.

Eve - Why?

Craig - To tell Karen the same thing I told you if it's not too late (Craig breaks into a run)

Alex walks around a bush brushing some blue goo off her jacket when she looks up at Craig running past her Alex grabs Eve just as she runs past

Alex - What's going on?

Eve - We're going to stop Karen. I think she's done something evil.

Alex - I knew it!

Eve - Alex you have to stop joking around! We have to stop her from getting the dark Phoenix sword before it's too late

Just then Craig is thrown back into a tree. Karen with the dark Phoenix sword walks slowly into view as she blows the smoke from the sword. In her other hand she carries the original Phoenix Sword

Karen - It already is

Karen points the swords at Eve and Alex.

Karen - And I think it's time to get rid of some pests who aren't exactly doing the world a favor

Quickly Alex kicks the original Phoenix sword out of Karen's hand then punches her in the face knocking her on the ground.

Alex - Oh Yeah! I've wanted to do that for a long time. (takes a deep cleansing breath) Its like therapy!

Karen gets up and holds up the dark Phoenix Sword. It bursts into black flame

Alex - Oh, that isn't good.

The sword spurts black fire at Alex and Eve. They both jump out of the way. Eve gets out her chakram and throws it at the Dark Phoenix sword. The sword is knocked out of her hand. Eve catches her chakram. Karen rolls to the ground and picks up the dark Phoenix sword again. Craig then tackles her down.

Craig - Karen don't do this. Using the Dark Phoenix isn't the way.

Karen - You're a fool! (Kicks Craig off her)

We pan down to where the good Phoenix Sword has fallen and we close in on a hand picking it up.

Karen gets up and sticks the dark sword into the ground sending a trail of black fire to Craig. He jumps out of the way before it explodes. Karen looks over to Alex and Eve. As she lifts her sword she is struck by a huge sphere of fire from behind. Karen screams but it is not her own scream. Karen's flesh is melted away.

Alex - Gross!

Raven is revealed. Craig Alex and Eve are shocked and they look to where the blast of fire had come from.

Standing in the distance with the good Phoenix Sword in her hand is the real Karen. She is bruised and a little cut up as if she had been in an earlier fight.

Karen jumps up and flips over to the disoriented Raven and kicks her in the stomach.

Karen - Sorry, I took so long to get here Craig. I hope I'm not too late.

Raven - It doesn't matter anymore! I've got the Dark Phoenix Sword back.

Craig - Not for long.(Craig kicks her in the back down to the ground)

Alex comes over and grabs Raven by the hair while Craig and Karen hold out her arms and keep her secure.

Craig - Eve!

Eve takes out her chakram and throws it at Raven. It strikes at the dark sword, knocking it out of her hand. Alex jumps over and grabs it and tosses it to Eve just before Eve catches her chakram. Raven's screams

Eve - In the name of Eli and all the powers of heaven I demand that this evil entity and abomination be put back into the underworld where it belongs!

Once again as it was in "The Weapons" the sword is cast back into the underworld in a flash of light and smoke.

Raven - NOOOO!!!!

Raven throws Karen off her and whips around and tosses Craig into a tree and then spins around and kicks Alex in the gut. She starts to lunge for Eve but the Phoenix sword is put at Raven's throat by Karen. She stops and looks to Karen and sneers.

Raven - This is far from over

As Karen lifts up the sword to chop of Raven's head Raven turns into a raven bird and flies away as Karen hits nothing but ground.

Alex, Eve, Craig and Karen look off to the night sky as Raven's animal cries echo over the city

COMMERCIAL

Fade to later in the Centre

Karen - I'm sorry I didn't get here sooner. We could have ended this tonight before it got so out of hand.

Craig - It could have been ten times worse so I'm thankful for small mercies. I just can't believe she got away again!

Eve - We'll beat Raven someday. Like you said evil can't be beaten in one night.

Craig - (nods and looks to Karen) I'm just glad that you weren't really that evil.

Alex - I can't believe I'm saying this but I'm glad you're you and not evil you

Karen - Did you get hit on the head before I got here?

Alex - Probably.

Karen - She must have tracked our family line and gathered information about us, all of us and knew that you had contacted me. She showed up at my place one night and beat me up pretty bad and then she took my form and identity. She used our family connection to get close to you and get the Phoenix Sword.

Craig - And she used my spells and my ingredients to call back the dark phoenix sword. That's why she agreed to stay and in my apartment no less. I'm so stupid

Karen - Don't put yourself down. She tricked me as well and I've been battling evil for a lot longer than you have. New York has got pretty bad but you have been doing a good job here and you've got some powerful help. (looks to Eve and Alex) I'm proud of you

Craig - (sighs and smiles) Thank you Karen. That means a lot.

Karen - I know I've been hard on you but you're a worthy addition to the Evans legacy. As are you Alex and you too Eve.

Alex - Wow. Never thought I'd hear that.

Eve - What are going to do now? Raven knows you have the sword. She'll come after you.

Karen - I'm heading to L.A. I have some info on the reincarnated soul of the Phoenix Warrior. She's living somewhere in that area. If I can convince her to take the sword and train her, she'd have enough power to stop Raven for good.

Craig - The Phoenix Warrior reincarnated and alive! That's a big job. Are you sure you're up to doing this alone?

Karen - I'll call if I need help. Besides you have a job to do here. Keep doing it

Craig smiles and nods

Alex - Encouraging, proud, complimenting us. Are we sure this is the real Karen?

Karen - I know I haven't been very nice to you Alex. I want to change that. We shouldn't be fighting each other. We're on the same side. In a fight together against evil we must stand united.(Karen holds out her hand)

Alex - This won't be easy.

Eve - Nothing worth doing is easy

Karen - Isn't this what you guys are about? Fresh starts, promises for a new day. Come on Alex. Truce?

Alex - Got to reflect the cause (shakes Karen's hand) Truce!
