Alex walks in to her apartment loft with Eve following and squints at the sunlight pouring into the large window. As Alex goes over to draw the blinds Eve looks around at her surroundings. Alex peels off her jacket

Alex - Gross. This jacket is still soaked from last night. I'm going to go change. Make yourself at home Eve.

Alex walks into her room as Eve looks around. She is standing on an upper level where there is a kitchenette and across from that there is a simple table and chairs. Off to the right there are a few screens that separates and lead off to other rooms. Eve looks above the kitchenette to see a second level with a spiral stair case winding down beside the kitchen. Eve looks to her far left and see a living room like quarters with comfy couches and throw pillows

Eve - (calls to Alex) This is really nice. You live here?

Alex - (from her bedroom behind one of the screens)Yep. Home sweet home. You can stay here with me for a while until we get you settled in properly.

Eve walks to her left and looks at the couch then picks her head up to look at the television. Of course, she doesn't know what it is. She walks over and kneels down in front of it. She knocks on the glass and sees her reflection in the dark glass. She runs her hands along the front and finds the "on" button. She presses it and the T.V. turns on with a full blast of volume. Eve jumps back startled and Alex comes rushing out of her bedroom and grabs the controls to turn it down.

Alex - Whoa Whoa Whoa! What do you think you're doing?

Eve - I'm sorry! I . . .I was just curious (looks at the images on the television with fascination) What is that?

Alex - This is called a television. Besides other things I guess it's primary function is to show people events around the world. Sort of . . .

Eve - That's amazing! (looks over to computer and rushes over) Is this a tele . . .tele . . .?

Alex - Television? No that's a computer. It has sort of the same function but you have to access the vital information . . . among other things.

Eve - (runs over to the kitchenette and looks over and runs her hand over the toaster and the microwave and the stove) What are these things?

Alex - (runs over and swats her hands away) Whoa hands off!! (sighs and pinches the bridge of her nose) I can see we're going to have a lot of work to do.

Eve - There's so much to know. Where do I start?

Alex - Your clothes.

Eve - (looks down at her green roman garments)What's wrong with them?

Alex - Well the retro look is in but not Ancient Greece retro. Come on into my room. I have some clothes that will fit you then we can go meet Craig at NYU. He's a professor there.

As Alex and Eve go into Alex's bedroom we pan out of Alex's apartment through the window and down to the street. There is a dark figure there looking up at the window where Eve and Alex are

We fade in to the cafeteria at NYU. Craig is sitting at one of the tables drinking coffee trying to keep his eyes open while going over notes for his next class. Alex and Eve come up behind him. Eve is now dressed in jeans and a red tank top.

Alex- Hey!

Craig - (looks up) Hi.(sees Eve) Wow! Eve you look great!

Eve - (smiles a little but looks around the place curiously) Thanks

Alex - Simple but sufficient. We're going to go shop later.

Eve looks around at all the students walking past. She is in a state of culture shock

Craig - Eve?

Eve - Um . . . what is this place?

Craig - (smiles and gestures around him) Welcome to New York University where people across the nation come to further their education. I'm a professor here and I help them do that.

Alex - Brilliant, kind professor by day, bad-ass demon fighter by night.

Craig - Hey, will you keep it down! And speaking of which, I'm going to have to give up this "by night" stuff. I'm having trouble staying awake.

Alex - Don't even joke about that cause you started it and I'll be damned if I'm going to do this without you . . . literally.

Eve - Alex, are you a professor too?

Craig - Ha! Hardly, Alex is living off her inheritance

Eve - I don't understand

Alex - Long story

Craig - Alex you should really try getting a job and actually working for a change. It'll give you a greater sense of purpose.

Alex - Yeah Yeah Blah Blah.

Eve - I suppose I'll have to get a job soon. Alex says money is a vital part of the economy in this time.

Craig - One thing at a time Eve. You've got 2000 years of history to catch up on. Laws, technology, economics, geography . . . . (sees Eve startled face) It's okay! It's all going to be okay.

Alex sits down beside Craig with a can of coke in her hand. She takes a gulp.

Alex - Now who's freaking her out

Craig - It will take some time but Alex and I will help you. You focus on your mission and what you want to accomplish here. Alex and I will fill you in on the rest. For right now, let's just get you settled in.

Eve - This is all so overwhelming

Craig - And that's understandable but don't worry. Teaching is what I do. I'll help you. Alex will help you too.

Alex lets out a huge burp. Eve stares at her with a little disgust

Alex - What?

Craig - (sighs) Well, I'm here for you anyway . . . (looks at his watch) but not right now cause I got to go. I got a class to teach! Alex try to get her settled and show a little patience.

Alex - I'm not a miracle worker. That's Eve's department.

Eve - I don't think I'll ever get settled.

Alex and Eve move away to let Craig pass. Eve however moves a little too far back a little too fast and bumps into a guy behind her making him spill his glass of juice all over himself.

Eve- (whips around) Oh no!! I'm so sorry! Really I am. I didn't mean to!!!

Guy - (growls in frustration) Ah hell!! (grabs some napkins to wipe the juice off)

Eve- (grabs some napkins off the counter also and tries to wipe the juice off) I'm so sorry!! Let me help you with that

Guy - Why don't you watch where you're go . . .!! (as he looks up at Eve his jaw goes slack and he trails off)

Eve- (a little upset at the mess she made) What?

Guy - I'm glad you bumped into me now. It's not everyday I meet a pretty girl that way. (sticks out his hand to shake)I'm Kevin.

Alex and Craig look at each other with curious looks then look back to Eve and Kevin

Eve - (shakes his hand a little confused) Eve.

Kevin - That's a pretty name. Are you new on campus?

Eve - Yeah really new.

Alex - (mutters) Or really old

Craig nudges Alex in the side hearing the comment

Kevin - Have you been on a tour of the campus yet?

Eve - Uh no . . . I haven't been around yet

Kevin - Great, then I can show you around. Can I meet you here around 3:00?

Eve - (surprised but flattered she smiles) Yeah that would be great!

Kevin - Awesome! See you then and don't worry about the juice.

Kevin smiles and walks off and Eve beams brightly as he walks off she then turns to Alex and Craig who were watching with interest

Alex - Well it looks like Eve has got 21'st century sex appeal down flat. She's barely been here a day and she's already got herself a date

Craig - Oh I think she had sex appeal down long before she came here

Alex and Eve both give Craig a strange look. Craig eyes widen as he realizes what he just said

Craig - Um . . . . Hey look at the time! Got to go!!!(bolts out of the cafeteria)

Alex - (leans over to Eve) One thing you will learn about men in the 21'st century is that they're horny as hell.

Eve - (looks at Alex) In that respect, in 2000 years, nothing has changed.

Fade to later in the afternoon to Eve standing at the front entrance of the cafeteria. Kevin jogs up to her and smiles

Kevin - Hey! I'm not late am I?

Eve - (smiles) Not at all!

Kevin - (gestures to his shirt) As you can see I'm all changed and juice free! Are you ready for a tour of the campus grounds.

Eve - (laughs) Sure

Kevin offers his arm to Eve. She looks a little shocked at first at the gentlemen like treatment but then she smiles and takes the arm graciously

Cut to Campus grounds. Eve and Kevin walk along the gardens arm in arm.

Kevin - So where are you from?

Eve - Rome . . .(realizes what she just said) uh . . .I mean . . .err . . .

Kevin - Oh you're a foreign student?

Eve - (relief washes over her) Yeah . . . Exactly

Kevin - Your English is amazing. (points to a building) Oh! There is the Library. Most students think of it as a second home! Professor Summers spends a lot of time there too. He's always checking out weird books on ancient mythology.

Eve - Who?

Kevin - Professor Summers . . . Craig Summers . . . the guy you were talking to in the cafeteria today.

Eve - Oh . . . yeah

Kevin - How do you know him anyway?

Eve - He kind of brought me here

Kevin - He did? When? He's never missed a class

Eve - Um . . .(looks toward the park and quickly changes the subject) The park looks beautiful. I'd love to go for a walk there

Kevin -(looks to the park) Yeah only during the day though. I wouldn't recommend walking around there at night.

Eve - Why?

Kevin - It's dangerous. You never know what could be lurking in the dark and New York can be pretty dangerous at night. A pretty girl like you is easy prey.

Eve - I can take care of myself

Kevin - Naw . . . girls always say that but they always end up falling prey to some phsyco.

Eve gives Kevin an annoyed look but he ignores it and continues on

Kevin - Besides there is a lot of rumors going on about what happens in parks and on the streets in New York at night

Eve - (curious now)What rumors?

Kevin - Well I don't believe them myself but they say there are monsters lurking about. Demons or something stupid. You hear some really weird stories, people afraid for their very souls.(laughs a little) Morons.

Eve - (a little nervous) Really

Kevin - Yeah pretty stupid huh? Like I said, it's completely absurd but you never know so you should be careful. I wouldn't go in the park at night.

Eve - Sure . . .yeah

Kevin - (Turns to Eve)You know as soon as I saw you I thought you are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen.

Eve - (shocked) Oh . . . Kevin that's a lovely thing to say but . . .

Kevin - Would you like to go out with me tonight?

Eve - Uh . . .

Kevin - I'd love to show you around more and get to know you better. I'd like to take you out for dinner

Eve - Sure. I guess. (smiles) That'd be wonderful

Kevin - Great!

Kevin and Eve have stopped walking and stopped in front of the history department. Alex was waiting at the steps looking over at them when Craig walks out of the entrance doors. He sees Kevin and Eve standing there and nods to Alex and they begin to make there way over to them.

Alex - Hey Eve. Ready to go home?

Kevin - Oh, hey Mr. Summers

Craig - (nods to him) Kevin. Shouldn't you be working on that essay I assigned.

Kevin - Sure thing. Well I got to go. I'll meet you here around 7:00. (to Craig)You should stay with her Mr. Summers until I come to pick her up. She's new and a little naive, she shouldn't be on her own at night. I'll see you. (jogs off and over to some of his friends)

Alex - Chauvinist

Eve - (turns to Alex and Craig) You're not going to believe this but . . .

Alex - Kevin just asked you out. Yeah, I believe it.

Eve - He's a sweet guy.(smiles to herself) Should I go? This feels . . .

Alex - Yeah, go and have a good time. It would be a really great opportunity to get acquainted with the city, experience some of life in the 21'st century!

Eve - I'm kind of nervous. I've never had a date before. What do I do? How do I act? What do I wear!?

Alex - Oh isn't this cute? Eve has her first crush in the 21'st century.

Eve - You don't think I'm in love do you. Kevin is . . . innocent, really. I like it. I've never experienced it. Not really.

Craig - (getting nervous) Eve be careful. You just met him and Kevin has a bit of a reputation around campus. Besides you don't want to tip him off about who you really are.

Eve - That's just it. I really do have a clean slate here. I can be anyone I want.

Craig - (nervous for her) Eve, listen. I know this is all new and exciting for you but remember what you're here for. You just got here and you've got a lot to learn.

Alex - That doesn't mean she can't have a life. It's one date. Don't be such a worry wart Craig. So Kevin is a bit of a dick, that doesn't mean Eve can't go out and have a good time (puts her arm around Eve and leads her off) Don't worry Eve, I'll help you get ready. This actually might be a good time to get you acquainted with the functions and helpful uses of a telephone.

Eve - Telephone?

As Alex Eve and Craig walk off toward Craig's car they pass by a dark figure concealed in the shadows of a building.

COMMERCIAL

Cut to that evening Kevin and Eve walked out of the Italian restaurant, Eve with a tin foil swan in her hands. Eve is wearing a blue flowered skirt and a white t-shirt.

Eve- Thanks for the dinner. It was really nice.

Kevin - My pleasure. Sorry about the pasta though.

Eve - Yeah it was a little spicy but I'm sure Alex will be able to finish it off.(holds up the swan.) I am having a wonderful time though

Kevin- Me too. You are a really great person

Eve - Thank you. (Smiles and blushes)

Eve and Kevin look into each others eyes and move in for a kiss. Before their lips meet a dark figure walks past bumping into Eve knocking her to the ground along with her swan splattering all over the sidewalk.

Kevin - HEY WATCH IT! (turns to Eve) Are you okay? (Helps her up)See what I told you about New York at night. You are such an easy target!!

Eve - (sends Kevin another annoyed look) I'm fine. Don't worry about it.

From above Kevin and Eve hear an ear piercing scream. They cover their ears just before a green scaled demon pounces on Kevin from above. Kevin screams in horror but is drowned out by the screeches of the demon as the demon begin to tear at him.

Eve - Kevin!

Eve jumps up and flips over the demon and pulls it off Kevin she then does a round house kick at the demon and sends it flying into the street. It then retreats into part of Central Park across the street. Eve runs to help Kevin up but finds he is knocked unconscious.

Eve - Kevin! Kevin wake up! (shakes him a little)

Eve sees several demons running off to the park she makes a move to follow them put remembers Kevin. She picks him up and settles him on her shoulders and heads to the park.

Cut to the darkness of the park. Eve makes her way around the bushes and flowerbeds and finds a bench. Panting a little she settles Kevin on a bench and looks around. Eve listens carefully to sounds around her and to what is behind the sounds. She tends to Kevin for a minute to check if anything is fatal. She sighs with relief to find he is just knocked out. Just then a swamp like creature comes bounding out of the bushes. Eve somersaults backward the demons jumping out of the bushes behind the bench missing her completely. She then propels her self up with her legs kicking some demons back that were behind her in the process. She tears two slits in her skirt for better mobility then jumps up and kicks a demon in the chest flips another one over her shoulders and turns around quickly to send a massive punch to the face of another demon which flies back into the bushes. She looks at her hand covered in slime.

Eve - Yuck!

She sees another demon come at her it tackles her down to the ground. Eve struggles against the demon and head butts it then flips it over her. She gets up

Eve - That's it !(grabs the demon by the head) In the name of Eli and all the powers of heaven I call upon you to give me strength to send these creatures back to hell

The demon screams in fury and pain as it is consumed in bright light and smoke and sent back to the underworld

Suddenly from every corner Demons come out from the shadows Eve is surrounded. She looks around as demons continue to advance on her. An orb of light speeds past Eve's head and hits a demon square in the chest knocking it down. Orbs of blue fire also speed past and whiz past Eve hitting the demons and engulfing them in a blue flame that when die out leave nothing but the ashes of demon behind. A shadowed figure flips over all the demon and lands beside Eve. The figure kicks, hits and punches all the demons down causing them to back off.

Figure - Eve! Put the power of Heaven into the ground

Eve - What!?!

Figure - Use your powers on the ground!!

Eve - (not understanding but still does what she's told) By the power of Eli and all the powers in Heaven. I cast these demons back to the underworld.(Eve slams her hands on to the ground)

A beam of light comes up from the ground around each of the demons. They all scream in pain as they either burst in to flames or break apart from the light or recede into the smoke. After a few moments the lights from the ground vanish and nothing is left of the demons but smoke quickly fading away

Eve - (looks at the dark figure who has his back turned to her)It worked. . . Who are you?

The figure turns around

Ares- Aren't you a chip off the old block. You got a lot of fight in you. Just like your mom. I'm impressed

Eve - Ares!?

Ares - (spreads in arms wide and smiles)The God of War!

Eve - How is this possible? How are you here? The Olympian gods are supposed to be gone. Your reign has passed.

Ares - (rolls his eyes) Just because our "reign" had passed does not mean we don't exist anymore. We may not have any followers but we are still alive and well. You should know better since it was your mother that gave me back my godhood.

Eve walks up to him and punches him in the face.

Ares - (unfazed looks back at Eve and lets out a tired sigh) Now is that anyway to treat the guy who has been watching your back. If it wasn't for me, that demon back at the restaurant would have gotten the drop on you and would have totaled you and your boytoy.

Eve - That was you!! You've been following me? How did you even know I was here in this time?

Ares - (scoffs)Please Eve! Even the most common of man knows how the earth is decending into chaos. But those of us with real power know that this world has been on the edge of the abyss for decades. We can feel the shifts and the tremors of power. The ancient ones have come to take back the night. But rumor has it that one has been called to beat them back. The Messenger of Light. And not just any messenger, the First Messenger has been called to restore the balance and bring back peace. More demons have been out tonight to try and find The Messenger. I've been out to see if it was true and to see if it was really you.

Eve - Why? Are you going to kill me?

Ares - I'm trying to protect you.

Eve - Like the time you were trying to distract my mother so the furies had a chance to influence Gabrielle to kill me? (turns to walk back over to Kevin)

Ares - Or maybe like the time when I gave up my godhood to heal you

Eve - (stops in her tracks and turns around) Why are you here Ares? What are you trying to protect me from?

Ares - Lucifer

Eve - What?

Ares - This is the century that Lucifer has been waiting for. He's preparing for his takeover of earth. His sins have bound him to Hell for eternity but with enough people committing more sins he can ascend to earth, his sinful blood absolved by the sinful blood of others. Now that you're here in this time, his power and plans are theatened. If you bring your word of love, giving people a chance to change and do good themselves, it could destroy his chances of taking over the earth. Even one act of goodness is another day he is kept in hell. He's felt it too Eve. He knows you are here and he's trying to get rid of you.

Eve - You're trying to protect me for the good of the world and mankind? That's very differnt from the Ares I know. What's in it for you?

Ares - If Lucifer gains control then I will cease to exist. He has to stay in hell in order to preserve my existence. As much as I don't like it, you've got to stay alive so I can

Eve - That's a switch(rolls her eyes) but it figures. . . (looks to Ares and her expression softens) Thanks, I owe you.

Ares - You got that right but we'll get to that later. There's one thing I have to know though. How did you get here? How did you break the laws of time?

Eve - I wish I could tell you but . . .

Eve is interrupted at that moment when Kevin wakes up with a groan. He lifts himself up off the bench and looks around at his surroundings in confusion

Kevin - Where am I? What the hell is going on?

Ares - Your boyfriend is awake

Eve - He's not my boyfriend

Kevin - (Looks in confusion between Eve and Ares) Who is this? Would someone tell me what's going on?

Out of nowhere a demon pops up behind the bench Kevin was laying on. It jumps out to try and attack Kevin. Kevin screams but before the demon has a chance to attack Ares throws a sphere of blue fire engulfing the demon. The demon scream and growls and sprawls around on the ground in pain before nothing is left but ashes. Kevin stops screaming but looks up panting and breathing heavily clearly frightened

Kevin - WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!!!

Eve - Kevin wait! Calm down!

Kevin - (looks to Eve really scared and points to her) FREAK (points to Ares) FREAKS!! JUST STAY AWAY FROM ME!!

Kevin runs off out of the park. Eve tries to go after him but Ares holds her back

Ares - Aw let him go!

Eve - Ares! He's frightened and confused. I need to help him and calm him down

Ares - In about the next two seconds that guy is going to go blabby all over town about how he saw demons and a guy who throws fire balls and then he's going to be committed to asylum. You don't want be there while it happens because you won't be able to stop it.

Eve - He needs help

Ares - Trust me, he won't find it from you. He wouldn't let you.

Eve - Thanks a lot.

Ares - He wasn't any good for you anyway

Eve - Yeah, well now I have no way to get back so I have to go find a telephone now

Ares takes out his cell phone from his pocket

Ares - Here, use mine (hands the phone to Eve and holds up two fingers) Now that's two you owe me.

Eve let's out an annoyed sigh while rolling her eyes. Then dials the phone. She's struggling for a minute when she doesn't get a dial tone and furls her brows in frustration. Ares takes the phone from her slowly and pushes a button

Ares -(mocking) You have to turn it on first.

Eve grabs the phone back from Ares with an annoyed look on her face

Fade later to Alex's loft. The door opens and Eve walks in behind Alex. Eve shakes her hand furiously at the demon slime still on her hand.

Alex - (walks over with a cloth and hands it to Eve) Banshee demon. Yeah, those things are a bitch to deal with. Hard on the ears and slimy all over.

Eve takes the cloth and wipes her hands then flops down on the couch in a huff and furiously takes off her shoes and throws them at the wall

Alex - (winces) Bad date huh? Kevin was jerk anyway. Don't let it throw you

Eve - I was attacked by demons, Ares saves my life so now I owe him. Lucifer wants me dead and Kevin wants nothing to do with me.

Alex - So . . .all in all your first day in the 21'st century wasn't great.

Eve - To say the least

Alex - Ares and Lucifer. Whoa! Wait until Craig hears about this. This is big

Eve - Yeah. But I understand why I'm here, why Eli needs me here. I should not have forgotten so quickly. I have work to do to here. Lucifer is preparing for his takeover. People have lost their faith. I can bring it back.

Alex - You got a big job cause it's a big world. That's a lot of souls to save.

Eve - It's true. I can't do it alone

Alex - Craig and I used to just keep things level but maybe we need to step it up, go beyond just keeping things status quo. You know me and Craig will help you. We're in this together

Eve stand up and walks over to the loft window to look out over the city in the night

Eve - I know. Even if I can help just a few people the balance between good and evil can be restored little by little each day and that is one more day that Lucifer can be kept in Hell. This is my mission.
