EVE
Episode 1:7

Eve kneels in front of an alter in a little chapel her hands interlaced and her eyes closed. She speaks out loud.

Eve - Eli,

*flash*

Craig and Eve are with Alex in the ambulance. Craig is holding Alex's hand as she lies unconscious

Eve - I don't know if you can hear me now

*flash*

Paramedic - We're losing her!!

Eve - I know I have been neglecting my responsibilities as Messenger and I have no right to ask anything of you but you have to protect Alex. You must save her.

*flash*

The paramedics are trying to get the bullet out of Alex's stomach and they are having are hard time

Eve - I do not ask this for myself unworthy as I am but I ask for Alex who needs your help, I ask for Craig who needs her by his side . . .(quietly) and I need them both.

*flash*

Eve -(crying) Please Alex, please don't die!

Eve - (begins to cry and speaks out loudly) I know I strayed from my path but please don't punish her!

Craig - Eve?

Eve turns around startled. She sees Craig standing there with the door open letting the light from the outside hall into the chapel. We see now that the chapel is a hospital chapel. Nurses and doctors go by in the hall. Craig walks in and sits down on one of the pews.

Craig - Are you okay?

Eve turns away from him and kneels at the alter hanging her head in shame

Eve - Is Alex okay? I think that's the more important question

Craig - I just came from speaking with the doctor. They got the bullet out. It missed vital organs but she lost a lot of blood. They're giving her a transfusion now so she's stable. She's going to be fine. But right now, I want to know how you're doing?

Eve - How do you think I'm doing? Alex got shot. I pushed that gun away and the bullet flew right into Alex!

Craig - That was an accident

Eve bolts up and turns around to look at Craig

Eve - An accident that could have cost Alex her life!

Craig - (sighs)Do you want to tell me what happened? How did you come to lose your memory?

Eve - (calms down a little bit and sits down next to Craig) I was at the bank about to talk to the teller when this thief came out of nowhere. He had a gun. He was screaming at everyone. People were starting to lie face down of the ground. When I didn't he came over to me and put the gun to my head. I stopped him though. I got the gun away from him. I hurt him.

Craig - You were protecting people

Eve - (Shakes her head) I just reacted.

Craig - Go on.

Eve - (takes a deep breath and carries on) He wasn't as badly hurt as I thought. When I went to see if he was alright he took me by the head and then he must have rammed me into a wall or something because the next thing I remember is waking up with a splitting headache and no idea of what was going on.

Craig - How did you get involved with that gang?

Eve - I wandered out of the bank. I didn't know where I was going, I just felt like I needed to find answers. They attacked me in an alley. I beat them up pretty bad.

Craig - It sounds to me like you were defending yourself.

Eve - I liked it Craig! I wanted to be in a fight. They talked about taking over New York and ruling over the city. I started having flashes from my past. Memories of when I was Livia. It was like when Ares promised that my destiny was to rule. I latched on to that! I became Livia again!

Craig - That would be logical

Eve - Why are you rationalizing this!?

Craig - Because there are rational explanations! You're not a bad person Eve. You are not inherently evil. You had no idea of your identity. Of course you're going to latch on to the first memory that would provide a clue. And why not Livia? You've spent most of your life as her. And believe it or not that the Livia identify protected you when you needed to survive. But when it came down to it, you didn't want to hurt anyone. When confronted with the choice you remembered who you truly are and you chose to do no harm.

Eve - That doesn't change what happened! I committed crimes! I broke the law! I should be in jail.

Craig - Would that help you?

Eve - This isn't about me

Craig - You want to be punished, so it seems to me it is about you.

Eve - I thought I was here to atone for my past but I keeping doing the wrong thing. What do you suggest I do?

Craig - You're the Messenger, you have a mission, a purpose. We fight the evil that operates outside the law and normal society. We stop those who would seek to corrupt and make people stray to a path of crime. That evil must be contained, a balance must be kept so people have the power to choose what's right. You going to jail would not help anyone. I can't fight this evil without you. I can't show them a better way like you can.

Eve - But everything that has happened . . .

Craig - Was an accident. You lost your memory, you were confused. But some good that has come from this. You stopped a robbery, saved my life and ended up ridding this city of three guys who buy and sell guns to kids. You've made this city just a little bit safer.

Eve - I may have put three criminals in jail but only because you were there to fix my mistakes.

Craig - That's why we're a team Eve. We've got each other's back.

Eve - What good can I possibly do if I can't tell who are the demons and who's not, those who have souls and those who are destined to lose them? I could make so many mistakes.

Craig - That's the burden of what we do. We could stand idly by, too afraid to do anything in case we mess up, but doing nothing means we never know if we could have saved a life. The ones who are strong enough to care are the ones who can change this world and make it better. It's not easy but you are one of those people Eve. That's why I brought you here. I believe that you can make a difference. You need to start believing in yourself as well.

Eve -(begins crying)But Alex could have died

Craig - (takes Eve in his arms)But she didn't. She's going to make it. She's strong

We cut to outside of the chapel where Ares stands listening to the conversation. He is wearing a dark over coat and dark glasses. He quirks his eyebrow in interest and walks passed the chapel and down the hall.

Eve and Craig walk through the hospital halls to Alex's hospital room. They see the doctor who operated on her come out of her room. He has a grave look on his face as we writes on the clip board. Craig and Eve look hopeful as they approach him

Craig - How is she?

Doctor - (looks up he takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly) Your friend has regained consciousness

Eve tunes out what the doctor is saying. A far of look appears in her eyes. She needs to see Alex. Craig looks at Eve confused as she walks off but focuses back on the doctor.

Eve walks in to Alex's room. She sees Alex reclining there in the hospital bed, hooked up to an I.V. dressed in a hospital gown, the crisp white sheets of the bed are covering her lower body. She looks surprisingly healthy for someone who's just been shot. As Eve walks closer to where Alex is. Alex's eyes are open and she is just staring out the window.

Eve - Alex?

Alex turns her head to look at Eve. Happy at getting any response at all Eve rushes over Alex. She is about to embrace her when Alex recoils and then flinches and puts her hand to her stomach. Eve is confused but sighs realising the pain Alex is in. She sits down next to bed.

Eve - I'm so sorry Alex

Alex looks at her for a second offended by the apology. She looks out the window again and remembers

*flash*

Cal has the gun pointed at Craig.

Time seems to slow down as he pulls the trigger.

Eve - NO!

We see in slow motion Eve push to gun away as a bullet comes out from the barrel and we follow the bullet right in to Alex's mid-section.

*end flash*

Alex - You saved Craig. That's what's important

Eve - But you ended up getting hurt . . .

Alex - I was so stupid. I shouldn't have sent you off on your own. . .

Eve - (slightly offended) Alex . . .

Alex - I keep messing up. I keep letting him down.

Eve - Alex you couldn't have known . . .

Alex - That's why he sent for you, you know. I'm not enough. I can't help people like you can

Cut back to Craig and the doctor

Craig - But she's okay, right? She's on the mend.

Doctor - Physically yes. It's amazing really but I'd like to keep her here for observation and I'd like to have her talk to our Psychiatrist.

Craig - A shrink? Why?

Doctor - You have to understand this was a traumatizing event. While the patient can heal physically they are often scarred emotionally, sometimes even mentally. It's already begun with your friend. When she woke, she was mumbling about the darkness and evil.

Craig - (his eyes go wide and then shakes his head and laughs it off uneasy) What pain meds have you got her on Doc?

Doctor - (scowls) It's not the medication. People who have experienced life altering events like this, desperately try to make sense of what has happened. Delusions would help her cope but its not healthy.

Craig shakes his head

Craig - Alex will be fine. She does not need a shrink!

Craig walks away from the doctor to Alex's room

Cut back to Alex's hospital room

Alex - (continues on not paying attention to Eve) I'm useless.

Craig - (appears in the doorway) Alex shut up.

Eve whirls around surprised. Craig looks out to the hall and then comes in and closes the door

Craig - Alex, they're thinking of sending a shrink in here to talk to you

Alex - Craig, I'm so sorry, I let you down . . .

Craig - Alex, shut up for a second. I don't care about that. Right now you have got to pull yourself together. You keep talking about evil . . .

Alex - I know I messed up with Eve . . . but I can do better . . . I'll get better . . . I can still help you!

Craig - Okay, Alex, listen to me. You experienced something horrible. I know you must be upset but . . .

Alex - UPSET?! I GOT SHOT IN THE FREAKING STOMACH! WHAT GOOD AM I TO YOU NOW?!

Craig - Alex keep quiet! The Doctor wants to bring a shrink in here and if you keep talking like this, spilling all the secrets about evil, they're going to ship you off to a mental hospital!

Alex - (hangs her head) I can't do anything right. I can't do this!

Craig - What are you talking about?

Alex - (rolls her eyes and her voice becomes angry) Leave me alone!

Craig - Alex you're being stupid!!

Eve - Craig, I don't think this is what she needs to hear right now!

Alex - This happened for a reason. Maybe I'm not supposed to fight anymore. Maybe this is fate's way of telling me to step down let you and Eve do the work.

Craig - (sighs and stresses his words)Please Alex don't talk like that. You are making this into something it's not. You're strong. You can pull through.

Alex - Once I get over one thing there is just another hurdle I have to jump. I don't feel like making those jumps anymore.

Craig - Oh my god!! (backs away out of the room) First Eve, now you! I can't talk to you like this.

Craig turns and leaves the room.

Eve - Craig! (looks between Alex and Craig's retreating form in a panic) Alex, just . . .just stay there! I'll be right back (runs out of the room after Craig)

Alex - Where the hell am I going to go!? (mumbles) Stupid

Alex returns to looking vacantly out the window. Suddenly a rustling comes from behind a curtain near a wall. She looks to the curtain and sees Ares walk out from behind.

Ares - That's a little harsh!

Alex turns to look at Ares wide eyed

Ares- We need to talk

COMMERCIAL

As Ares walks toward Alex she begins to move towards the button to press to alert a nurse.

Ares - (sees what she's going towards) I wouldn't bother with that. No one knows I'm here and no one can see me if I don't want them to. And you start claiming strange men are in your room, men only you can see, well, people might think you've gone a little (spins his finger around his temple) crazy.

Alex puts the button down and takes a deep breath. She looks at him with no fear and a sense of loathing

Alex - You've really sunk to an all new low if you've come to kick a mortal when she's down

Ares - I just want to talk to you

Alex - (confused) About what?

Ares - Craig was right when he said you're strong

Alex - You eavesdrop now?

Ares - "Eavesdrop" is such a nasty word I prefer "listening to someone else's conversation on purpose." But he is right, you are strong, stronger than Craig or Eve could ever know.

Alex - What are you talking about?

Ares - There is a reason for what happened to you. It wasn't because you need to step down. It happened because you needed to realize how strong you are.(Ares leans in close and whispers in her ear)

Close up on Ares lips near Alex's ear

Ares - (whispers) You're a God.

Cut to halls of the hospital. Craig is walking through fast and without direction or purpose. His hands are on his head then down by his side then up again, then down again. He is flexing his fingers trying to work out the stress. Eve is practically jogging to catch up to him.

Eve - Craig! Craig! (catches up to him and catches his arm) We need to go back to Alex, we need to help her!

Craig - (exasperated)This is what the doctor was saying. She's traumatized!

Eve - She thinks she's let you down! I think she's felt this way for awhile and the shot to her stomach . . .

Craig - (sits down on of the seats along the hall and puts his head in his hands)I've never seen her this way before. She was always cocky, so hot headed and stubborn. She covers up for a deeper hurt and she could drive you mad with her attitude but she has passion. She was always striving so hard to find something, something worth living for, fighting for. That's why I was able to convince her to join me in fighting . . .(lowers his voice) the demons.

Eve - She did it for you because she thought you needed her.

Craig - I do need her! She's my best friend!

Eve - Then tell her that. She's lost her sense of purpose! You can give it back to her. You gave it back to me.

Craig - Its different. I can talk to you. Reason with you. Guide you. It's not that easy with Alex. When her parents died we all thought she'd break but, she went wild trying to find something to break her . . . I broke instead. When she puts her mind on something it stays there. No one can reason with her. Not even me.

Eve - I can help with that. . . I have your back and I have Alex's too.

Craig - (looks to Eve a little strangely but with a small smile) You're catching on with the lingo.

Eve - (smiles) I look at you and Alex and I think about my mother and Gabrielle and the relationship they had. Even though I was their daughter I didn't feel like I fit. But I see my place with you two. Xena and Gabrielle worked so well because they were more then a team, they were family. Alex needs to know how much she is apart of that, of us.

Craig - (nods) You're right.

Eve - Then let's go back into that room and convince Alex how strong she is and how much she means to us. Convince her to keep going because she's a fighter.

Cut back to the hospital room.

Alex - I'm a what?

Ares - God. Well, three quarters of a god. You have the powers of a god but the normal life span of a accident free healthy mortal.

Alex - You're insane

Ares - Oh really? Take a look at your stomach

Alex opens up her hospital gown in the front and slowly takes off the bandage. We pan in on her stomach and see the hole in her midsection knitting itself together. She looks up at Ares. He raises up his eyebrows.

Alex - How is this possible? I can't be a god.

Ares - Your parents never told you were adopted?

Alex - (thinks for a moment and then becomes very frustrated and angry) Of course they did but what does it matter?! I still loved them!

Ares - Didn't you ever wonder about your heritage, where you came from? Why you were a little bit stronger, a little bit faster? Or maybe your true strength had been dormant for way too long and the death of your adoptive parents made you repress your powers further.

Alex remains quiet as she cast her eyes down to her crisp white bed sheets.

Ares - Uh huh. I thought as much. You'd use that old threat of finding your real parents whenever you were angry at your family. When they died you felt so guilty, you buried everything that you truly are and all thoughts about your true heritage as to not dishonour your parents memory. The physical is all tied into the psychological. How mortal!

Alex - Shut up! My biological parents only brought me into this world. That is all. They have nothing to do with who I am.

Ares - (continuing) My son, Evander grew up as one of the few remaining Gods left on Olympus. He wasn't like the rest of us. He always wanted more, some meaning to life, so unsure of his place. Persephone was still bound to the underworld, her pain of losing Hades was being relived everyday. When Evander was chosen to take over the realm he and Persephone bonded . . . A little too much.

Alex - Oh gross

Ares - She ended up having a child. You. She was devastated of course, thought she betrayed Hades memory. She never told Evander and couldn't find it in her heart to kill you so she . . .

Alex -(quietly) Gave me up for adoption.

Ares - That's about it.

Alex - She never even wondered about me?

Ares - She never spoke of it.

Alex - How did you know?

Ares - I was listening to someone else's conversation on purpose

Alex - Of course

Ares - What matters now is you have the potential to be something great, to do something worthwhile. You are descended from gods. You heritage spans back to the creation of man. You can be a goddess, a hero.

Alex - This is the same tripe you pulled with Xena . . . yeah I saw the show. Do I look stupid?

Ares - No, you look like a woman who's been held back. A woman who has for so long tried to find meaning to her existence. But in the end you've only been regarded as comic relief, a weird kid with no place, a screw up.

Alex looked at Ares for a second. He meets her stare with equal gaze and intensity.

Ares - I'm offering you more then what you've ever had. A purpose. You can be the saviour, the hero. Not some sidekick letting everyone down. You could make the rules. Let me train you. You saw what it made Xena into. She was the ultimate warrior. I did that, that was my training! You deserve the chance to be like that and I can help you. All you have to do is give it to yourself. It's in your power to do so.

Alex looks to her I.V. stuck in her arm. She grabs hold and pulls it out. She get up quickly out of bed and pulled on a pair of pants feeling a sudden burst of energy. She tucks in her gown and puts her shoes on just as Eve and Craig enter. They can't see Ares.

Craig - Alex!?

Alex - Craig hand me my wallet, I'm getting out of here

Eve - Alex you were just shot! You shouldn't be up and walking. You need to rest and recover!

Alex - (reaches into Craig's jacket pocket and got her wallet)I did. All better now.

Craig - What's going on?

Ares - You know what Eve thinks about me. They would hold you back. They don't trust you to make your own choices.

Eve notices Alex not answering but slightly looking to her side like she was listening to someone else .

Eve - Alex?

Alex - (looks back to Eve and Craig) The only thing that is going on is that I've finally realized my true power. I'm not your side kick, or your comic relief. I 'm not a screw up!(charges out of the hospital room and calls out behind her) Just tell the doctor to put the room on my tab!

Craig - She has lost her mind! She has gone delusional!

Although Eve can't see him when Ares walks past, she cocks her head to the side as she senses something.

Eve - Maybe someone has been feeding delusions to her

Craig - What on earth are you talking about?

Eve - More like what on Olympus.

Craig - What?

Eve - Come on I'll explain on the way

It's late night and Ares and Alex are walking through the park. Alex has changed into black jeans and a black tank top. A demon drops in front of them Alex takes by it's arms and lifts it way above her head then throws him high in the air and Ares blasts into dust with a fire ball.

Alex - Nice Shot!

Ares - You can do that if you want.

Alex - How?

Ares - Just hold up your hand and concentrate.

Alex - That easy huh?

Ares - When you're a god, anything is that easy!

Alex opens her hand and stares at her hand concentrating. A glowing ball of light forms in her hands. Ares grabs a demon out of the bushes and throws it into the air.

Ares - Now!

Alex throws the ball of light at the demon. It captures the demon in an electrifying rope. It screams and then lands in a burnt smoldering heap on the ground. Alex looks at the black heap. She begins to laugh.

Alex - I did that! I can't believe the power!

Ares - It's good isn't it

Alex - Its incredible!(thinks about it) I never fit in anywhere in this world. Now it makes sense why. I could do so much good, I could make up for all the crap I put people through.

Ares - You don't need redemption! You've done nothing wrong! This is your reward for all the crap you've put up with!

Alex - Back off! I've been fighting demons for years now.

Ares - Is that what you want? To fight demons all your life.

Alex - No, but things don't have to be as they are anymore. I can finally make a difference! I could rid this world of demons!

Ares - (nods in appreciation) I like your passion. Peace through war is the way. And I believe you got enough fight in you to make it happen.

Alex - War against demons?

Ares - I have another plan in mind. But yeah demons is a good start!

Ares spins around and throws a fire ball at a demon blowing it up.

Cut to Eve and Craig driving in the car.

Eve - I can't explain it but I sensed a presence in the room.

Craig - And you think Ares was in the room.

Eve - I know he was. It's like my Mother used to say, Ares has a stench about him. He must have healed Alex and now she owes him. He's manipulating her.

Craig - Are you sure she's not suffering some sort of delusion?

Eve - Weirder things have happened Craig . . .

Craig slams on the brakes and Eve puts her hand to the dashboard to prevent her from going through the window. She looks at Craig shocked but then notices his confused face looking out the window.

Craig - You may be right

Eve looks to where Craig is looking and sees a demons caught in an electrifying rope flying through the air. It falls on the hood of the car.

Eve - Ewe!

Craig - Are you thinking what I'm thinking?

Eve - Ares. Let's go.

Cut to the park Eve and Craig are running toward where all the lights and flashing is coming from. They stop suddenly where they see Alex grabbing a demon and electrocuting it with her own power. Ares watches her and is laughing.

Craig - Alex?

Alex turns around a little bit out of breath.

Alex - Craig, Eve! Sorry, you're a little late for the party!

Eve - What are you doing?

Alex - What does it look like I'm doing. I've declared war on the demons. I'm ridding the world of evil.

Eve - War?!

Alex - As Ares granddaughter, who has more right?

Craig - Ares Granddaughter? That's impossible

Alex - No its not! I'm a god!

Alex forms a huge sphere of blue energy and throws it at a rock blowing it up into little pieces. Craig steps back surprised at this new power. Eve looks around sensing another presence

Eve - Ares? Where are you? Come out from where ever you're hiding!

A flash of lightening strikes and Ares appears sitting on a rock smiling.

Ares - I swear! You do take after your mom!

Eve - (turns to Alex and appeals to her human side) Alex listen to me. Ares is manipulating you.

Alex - No one is manipulating me and no one ever will again. I make my own choices! I'm the hero now!

Ares - And I'm training her! I've found my heir to my mantle!

Eve - Gaining peace through waging war! (turns to Alex) He gave the same line to me, to Gabrielle, to Xena.

Alex - (hesitant) I don't have to do it his way. I can forge my own destiny!! I can rid the world of evil. I have power beyond anyone's dream!

Eve - Yes, you are powerful but this is not the way to rid the world of evil and you know that.

Craig - Alex, what ever he's telling you, don't listen. You don't need to be a God to bring peace. You don't need him!

Alex - (rolls her eyes)Oh come on. You have your mission, and your destiny, and I was just along for the ride! Your side kick! But I have the power now! I can have my own destiny, my own mission!

Alex grabs another demon by the throat and shoves a lighting ball down it's mouth and his head explodes

Ares - YEAH! You tell them Alex!

Eve - Ares shut up! Alex, fighting evil was always your mission, your purpose as much as mine and Craig's!

Alex - But you're here because I couldn't help Craig enough! But now we don't need your help! I can do this on my own! I can prove it to you! (hands glow blue)

Craig - Alex you don't have anything to prove! You never has anything to prove to me.

Alex's hands fall to her sides the power dissipating.

Ares - Don't listen to them Alex! They'll think you'll screw up again. It's why Craig chose Eve to come here, it's why you got shot! They'll hold you back!

Alex - I won't screw up this time! I won't let you down!!

Craig - Alex you never have let me down. You've always been there for me, saving my butt from the demons!

Alex - But with Eve and the bank. . .

Craig - A freak accident . . . nothing to do with you.

Alex - But with Eve, you don't me need anymore

Craig - I will always need you. You have always been there for me, helping me, making a difference.

Eve - And now you can help me too. We're a team. We can help each other.

Alex - I've made so many mistakes . . . I can fix them now.

Eve - Mortal or god, we all make mistakes. Powers don't change that. I made a terrible mistake and you got shot!

Alex - But it made me realize I have powers now and I can do good with them!

Eve - Because you are good. But if you use your new powers to wage war you won't be.

Ares - They are trying to hold you back, they're jealous of your strength!

Alex - (shakes her head and squeezes her eyes shut) EVERYONE JUST SHUT UP! I can show you (two lighting balls form in her hands) I can show you my power! I can be great too!

Craig - I don't need someone great! I just need you! Alex, we were meant to walk this path together. Don't leave me now!

The balls of light fade from Alex's hands. She begins to hesitate.

Eve - I need you too. I need you two to believe in me and have faith in me so I can have faith in myself.

Alex - You . . . you need me? (looks to Ares who just shakes his head at her) I'm a fool, listening to such a war monger!!!

Alex falls to her knees in disgrace. Eve runs over and kneels beside her hugging her.

Eve - You haven't done anything wrong. You are a good person with extraordinary gifts and you will make a difference

Alex looks to Craig who nods encouragingly. Ares snorts in disgust.

Ares - I'm going to be sick.

Craig - (turns around to look at Ares) Get out of here before I kill you myself.

Ares -(sarcastic) Oh no! I better go buy some boots so I can shake in them. You can't keep me away forever. Alex is my kind and I always look out for my kind

Craig - We'll see

Ares - Oh yeah you will. She's family

Ares looks to Alex as Eve helps her up

Ares - You could have been something great you know. You still have the opportunity. All you have to do is call

Eve - She is great. With or without powers.

Ares just waves his hand at them in a dismissing manner and thunders out.

Craig puts his arm around Alex as Eve is still holding on and they walk out of the park

COMMERCIAL

St. Patrick's Cathedral the next morning. Alex is sitting inside alone enjoying the quiet. We see Eve walk inside and sit down beside her.

Eve - Hey

Alex - Hi

Eve - Craig told me you were here. He's outside waiting in the car.

Alex - I'm not surprised he doesn't want to see me. I guess I'm very different to him now

Eve - I don't think so. I think he knows you are the same person you always were but now you have a little something extra. You're still Alex, you're just three quarters god as well

Alex - (snorts a little from laughter) I guess it will just take some getting use to . . . for everyone. It will come in handy when we're fighting demons. I can make a real difference with these powers. I just need to know how to focus them right?

Eve - Right. (takes a deep breath) I'm sorry all this happened.

Alex -(shakes her head) I'm not. Things happen for a reason. I had to fall so I could pick myself up again and come back stronger then before . . .You must think I'm such a fool for falling for Ares lies like that.

Eve - Not at all. He made convincing arguments. I fell for them once. But he has helped you realize your potential, your godhood. You have a great power and more responsibility now.

Alex - (nods) It's a hard road we walk.

Eve - Craig and I will be there to help and guide you as I know you will help guide me. We can't be afraid to make mistakes otherwise you'll also be afraid to make good changes happen.

Alex - That sounds like a Craig pep talk

Eve - When I was lost, Craig helped bring that back into focus for me.

Alex - So he's right again. There will be no living with him after this.

Eve - (laughs a little but sobers) Speaking of which Craig just gave me that loan. The construction guys are going to work on the apartment tomorrow. All I have to do is decorate.

Alex - Yeah?

Eve - I could use a little help

Alex -(smiles)Yeah okay. I'll help. It's cool . . .

Eve - (smiles and looks around) It's very peaceful

Alex - Yeah. I thought perhaps it would give me some clarity, inspiration to use my powers in a good way. (looks up) He was a man and a god and he did so much good. Maybe I can learn from him. (sighs) I haven't been in one of these places in a long time, not since my family died. I thought since I didn't have one there was no point anymore. But I realized now that I do have a family.

Eve - You mean the Gods?

Alex - (looks to Eve) No I don't

Eve looks back to Alex knowing exactly what she means. She smiles.

Eve - I 'm just realizing that little by little I can make a difference too. Often where it counts the most.

Alex - (looks to the alter) It's what we good guys do.
