The Beginning

In the beginning, there was nothing. Then, Az'iri'le-nur'a, the One and the Great Light, awoke. She stretched and yawned, and out of her mouth came the sky, made of Ni'tro-elen, Oks'i-elen, and Hi'dro-elen, the three parts of air. She waved her snowy tail, and mixed some Oks'i and Hi'dro together, making water, the Esh'tuo. She drank some, to see how it was, and thought:

"This is a good thing. I will make someone else to enjoy this Esh'tuo, for it is a pity to be alone in enjoyment".

Thus, she plucked a number of hairs from her shining brow, and wove the body of a new cat from them. She struck a knife-like claw against herself to bring forth blood for the body, then she struck off half of a claw from each front paw, to give the cat bone, made from Kal'si-elen. She breathed life into the cat, and it awoke, its life fire kindled.

The Great Light saw the life fire that shone through the new cat's eyes, one silvern, one golden. For when the cat awoke, he opened his eyes and the One saw the fire, and named it Tir'os-ir, or far-seeing light.

As Tir'os-ir woke, he yawned, and out of his fiery mouth came the Kar'bon-elen, the hardness of the earth. Also, he yawned part of the Kal'si-elen that the One had given him. His eyes shone oddly, silvern and golden. The golden eye shone so brightly that part of the Esh'tuo caught on fire, and it made the water solidify into gems, stone and powders. He closed his eye quickly, before he could burn the whole pool, and he opened his silvern one. This eye shone too, but not so brightly that it burned. It lighted up the gems, stone, water, and powder, and they saw Az'mi, the earth-cat, awaken. Az'mi was too lazy to yawn or stretch, she only looked around. She saw Catress and Tir'os-ir, and she was frightened. Catress was so white that it hurt to look at her, and Tir'os-ir's eye shone. Az'mi was so frightened that she tried to run, but slipped on the Esh'tuo and fell. Esh'tuo got on her, and green furry trees sprouted on her back, with patches of blue where water stayed.

Tir'os-ir thought she was clumsy, and moved away from her. The One, though, had more sympathy, and moved closer to Az'mi, to comfort her. She sang to her, breathing a blanket of air on her, to warm the cold Az'mi.

Tir'os-ir came closer to look at her, now that she was settled, and put his head close to her. She was so small that one eye was on one side of Az'mi, and the other was on the other side.

Az'mi got up to look at herself, since he was looking at her, and tried to look at her betreed back. She could not see it, and kept turning round to try to see it. She almost bumped Tir'os-ir's silver eye, and he blinked very slowly withthat eye. When Az'mi made it all the way around, her tail hit Tir'os-ir in the other, golden eye, causing him to blink furiously with it, and causing it to water. The drops fell on to Az'mi and condensed, some into M'az, the Folk, others into Alu'pau, the Friends.
