Okay written prophecies are naturally each mans own interpretation, and the outcome of fulfillment ( whether reaching obtainment or not ) is subjective to each ones own spirit. Though there are some that undoubtedly can be bodily stated as fulfilled, some claim they are to general in nature and could have occurred by chance. To these skeptics I say..... Bahhhhhh Hum-Bug right back at'cha... read theses
Genesis 12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
12:2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:Genesis 17:9 And God said unto Abraham, Thou shalt keep my covenant therefore, thou, and thy seed after thee in their generations.
He told that to one man, so that makes it not general! OKAY let someone say that about you and see if it comes true... OH but you say Moses wrote it... after the fact? Moses died before ever seeing the promise Land, or a nation become of it, fact it would take many more years after his death before it was fulfilled.
17:10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
17:11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.Genesis 17:20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation. <>17:21 But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.Still being fulfilled to this day, or shall we de-pants male Jews to make sure?
Exodus 9:16 And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
NOW unless the Muslims don't claim Ishmael as their ancestor, that too is fulfilled, ITS not general, its about one man becoming a great nation and NOT general, OKAY then show me any other ancient manuscripts that claims two different people will be the start of two nations, and it come true... leave it in the guest book :)Deuteronomy 30:1-4 And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee,
"There is no more to talk about that one, you know His name, take your pick, fact that one has been fulfilled many times over... JUST the earth knowing His name fulfills that one, and spoken by a sheepherder, dusty and scorn for his belief... YET it came true :) no debating that one... its not general, it claims a specific thing will happen, IT HAPPENED. "Which back then this would have been a mighty feat, this unknown God OF SLAVES to claim all will know Him, no wonder Pharaoh laughed... little did he know. :)"
And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;
That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.
If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee:Jeremiah 29:10 For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.
That is talking of scattering the Jews to all nation... and note very few nations that were around back then are even around today... and this was spoken to a bunch of slaves amoung all them might nations, they are gone... the Jews are not. It's not general, show me another manuscript that says "you people will be scattered to many nations and I will take this land away, and then bring you back, and it happened... and if you say it didn't happen... then WWII didn't happen.Jeremiah 24:10 And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.
Guess what, that was fulfilled, and on the correct time span, and written before the fact! His prophetic career ranged from about 626 BC, during the reign of Josiah, at least to the fall of Jerusalem (586 BC) and the deportation of the population; at this time Jeremiah was taken by the remaining Jewish community to Egypt, where he died. He sure was dead before the 70 years was up, which all scholars agree was the time span of the captivity.Isaiah 2:3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.
Isaiah 61:9 And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles, and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD hath blessed.
More people have gone to that Holy Mount over the ages then just about any place on earth, more men have died for that little patch of land then for any other dirt in the whole world.. and tell me you don't know the jewish law? UNLESS you want to take my stance and believe its about Jesus, which either way, was fulfilled.Isaiah 49:6 And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth. The CHOSEN ones! EVEN Romans chap 11 shows this to be true :) All I can say is... AMEN!
Ezekiel 11:17 Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.
Okay now... well that happened or Israel isn't a country now... which one? See people use to say for low more the 1900 years... see the bible lies... this will never happen... oopppppsssss spoke to soon!
Hosea 2:23 And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.
Christians foretold!!! MAN no one could be counted worthy of God but the Jews... " I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God." WAY before the fact :)
Hosea 8:8 Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no pleasure. The Jews are hated "wherein is no pleasure" throughout the world, even having an name to describe the hatred for them, no other group has had a word to depict the timeless oppression of it's people. Anti-Semite of course, still abounds and is nothing more then the word of God come true.
Hosea 3:4 For the children of Israel shall abide many days without a king, and without a prince, and without a sacrifice, and without an image, and without an ephod, and without teraphim:Hey hey hey... man! Come on after reading that you don't feel a tug on your spirit saying it is the word of God come true?
Mathew 23:34 Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:Tell James, Matthew, John, Andrew, Mark, Thaddeus, Simon, Paul and the rest that didnt happen! And wrote by one that was killed... to boot!
The New Testament refers to the High Priest Caiaphas. Records of the Temple of Jerusalem where destroyed and man nor history has not been able to validate that Caiaphas lived. With no conformation of the existence of Caiaphas in history, other then the bible, Caiaphas was lost in time, the scoffers and doubters of the bible only need point to the history and proclaim that this Caiaphas was a figment of the NT writers imagination. Fast forward 1,950 years after the crucifixion of Jesus, and we have a public works project park in November 1990 accidentally uncovered an ancient burial cave.
The inscription in the chamber was of the Caiaphas family. The Caiaphas name had only been mentioned in the New Testament and by Flavius Josephus, no Jewish records have been found with Caiaphas' name linked to being the high priest. The remains of a 60-year-old man were found in the burial cave have been identified by most scholars as that of High Priest Caiaphas. The inscription on his craved ossuary, fit for a high priest, was the name Yehosef bar Qafa (Joseph, son of Caiaphas).
The New Testament only refers to the High Priest as Caiaphas, but Josephus refers to him as Joseph, who was called Caiaphas of the high priesthood. Joseph or Caiaphas was the high priest in Jerusalem between 18 and 36 C.E.
Thus showing the NT as a historical record above what was previously though to be known, man's record of history is corrected by a archeological dig, but the bible had the answer all along. Some scholars look for history to prove the bible to be right, and if the bible is not in tune with mans history, it must be the bible that is wrong, this is just another case of the bible once again setting man straight. Here are some more examples.
Coins found in the cave were bronze minted in 42/43 (C.E.) during the reign of Herod Agrippa I. These are similar to images of coins found on the Shroud of Turin Ð believed by many scientists and scholars to be the burial shroud of Christ.
Though the New Testament has many historical errors, the fact is that many of its points have been proven historically correct. Roman historians, Jewish historians, the finding of the Gnostic materials at Nag Hammadi and now the finding of Caiaphas' burial cave, establishes an historic fact that Jesus lived and died in a time and a place described in the New Testament. Some of the evidence supporting these writings surfaced nearly 2000 years later, adding a strong rule of evidence toward their historic accuracy.
" About this time there lived Jesus, a wise man, if indeed one ought to call him a man. For he was one who performed surprising deeds and was a teacher of such people as accept the truth gladly. He won over many Jews and many of the Greeks. He was the Messiah. And when, upon the accusation of the principal men among us, Pilate had condemned him to a cross, those who had first come to love him did not cease. He appeared to them spending a third day restored to life, for the prophets of God had foretold these things and a thousand other marvels about him. And the tribe of the Christians, so called after him, has still to this day not disappeared. " Flavius Josephus - Jewish Antiquities, 18.3.3 §63 (Based on the translation of Louis H. Feldman, The Loeb Classical Library.)
In Deuteronomy 31:16-17, the Bible said that the Jews would face many difficulties if they turned away from God. And, according to the Bible, many people in ancient Israel did at times turn away from God and worship the false gods of pagan Gentiles. This prophecy of persecution has been fulfilled many times. During the past 1900 years in Europe, for example, Jews were often heavily taxed, robbed of their possessions, stripped of their civil rights, forced into ghettos, tortured and slaughtered.
Government leaders and church leaders at times banished the Jews from living in Spain, England, France, Belgium and Italy. During the Crusades, Jewish villages were often destroyed and men, women and children were burned alive. Those centuries of persecutions culminated with the Holocaust of the 1930s and 1940s, when the Nazis killed an estimated 6 million Jews. When Israel reclaimed independence in 1948, the surrounding countries invaded and tried to destroy the tiny nation.
In Deuteronomy 28:64, the Bible said the Jews would be scattered worldwide. This prophecy has certainly been fulfilled. Take a look at the explanation of the Jewish "Diaspora," which means "scattering," from the Columbia Encyclopedia, Fifth Edition: "… by 70 A.D. Jewish communities existed in Babylonia, Syria, Egypt, Cyrene, Asia Minor, Greece, and Rome. Jews followed the Romans into Europe and from Persia and Babylonia spread as far east as China.
In modern times, Jews have migrated to the Americas, South Africa, and Australia. The Jewish population of Central and Eastern Europe, until World War II the largest in the world, was decimated in the Holocaust. Despite the creation of the state of Israel in 1948, the vast majority of the Jewish people remains in the Diaspora, notably in North America, Russia, and Ukraine."
Here is Deuteronomy 28:64 Then the Lord will scatter you among all nations, from one end of the earth to the other. There you will worship other gods--gods of wood and stone, which neither you nor your fathers have known.
In Ezekiel 36:8-10, the prophet Ezekiel said that the Jews would return, rebuild and repopulate their fallen cities. Ezekiel, according to the Bible, lived about 2600 years ago during the time of the Babylonian Captivity, when many Jews, including Ezekiel, were taken as captives to Babylon. After the Babylonian Captivity ended, many Jews left Babylon and returned to their homeland.
But about 1900 years ago, the Jews again were forced into exile, this time by the Romans. However, since the late 1800s, millions of Jews have returned to their ancient homeland. And, once again, they have been rebuilding and repopulating their ancient cities.
In 1948, there were about 600,000 Jews living in Israel. Today there are about 6,000,000. And more Jews throughout the world are returning to Israel each year.
Here is Ezekiel 36:8-10 "`But you, O mountains of Israel, will produce branches and fruit for my people Israel, for they will soon come home. I am concerned for you and will look on you with favor; you will be plowed and sown, and I will multiply the number of people upon you, even the whole house of Israel. The towns will be inhabited and the ruins rebuilt.
In Luke 21:33, Jesus claimed no matter what happens to the world, His words will never be passaway. Here we are some 1960 years or later and the words of Jesus Christ the Lord are all around us. There are over 2 billion Christians in the world and the Bible is most circulated book in the world as well. Of all the men that have existed, none could make this claim and it come more true then Jesus!Read Luke 21:33 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
Lets look at Jeremiah 30:11. Jeremiah said the enemies of Israel will be destroyed but that the Jews will never perish. History has many examples of how nations have tried to destroy Israel and the Jews: In about 721 BC (about 2700 years ago), Assyria destroyed the northern kingdom of Israel. They tortured, killed and exiled many Jews. In 586 BC (about 2600 years ago), Babylon destroyed the southern kingdom of Judah. They killed and exiled many Jews.
In 70 AD (about 1900 years ago), the Romans killed an estimated 1.1 million Jews and destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple. In 135 AD, the Romans killed an estimated 580,000 Jews and exiled many others.
In the 1930s and 1940s, the Nazis killed an estimated 6 million Jews. The Nazi plan, called the "final solution," was to kill all Jews. In Jeremiah 30:11, the prophet Jeremiah said the enemies of Israel will be destroyed but that the Jews will never perish. History has many examples of how nations have tried to destroy Israel and the Jews: In the 1940s the communist Russia reign killed millions more. It to is now it falling to the wayside.
Since then, millions of Jews worldwide have returned to their ancient homeland. Today, Israel again is a vibrant, independent country. But, the empires of the Nazis, Romans, Babylonians and Assyrians have vanished. Today, we can judge with our own eyes as to whether Jeremiah was correct when he said, 2600 years ago, that the enemies of the Jews would be destroyed, but that the Jews would be preserved
In 1967 archaeologists digging up the remains of Deir Alla, an ancient Ammonite city on the east bank of the Jordan, found an inscription that mentioned Balaam, the son of Beor. The 16 lines of an incomplete inscription on a wall turned out to be part of one of Balaam's prophecies, in language similar to that is recorded in Numbers.
There are many examples of the historical accuracy of the Bible. A good example is found in Genesis 14. The Bible speaks of Abraham's victory over Chedorlaomer and five Mesopotamian kings. For years, the critics stated that these accounts were fictitious and many people discredited the Bible. In the 1960s, however, the Ebla tablets were discovered in northern Syria. The Ebla kingdom was a powerful kingdom in the twentieth century B.C. The Ebla tablets are records of its history. Thousands of tablets have been discovered. What is important is that many of these tablets make a reference to all five cities of the plain proving the Genesis 14 account to be accurate. Even noted critics such as Dr. William Albright, who was not a friend of Christianity and was probably the foremost authority in Middle East archaeology noted the undeniable evidence of the new find.
The March 5, 1990 issue of Time magazine featured an article called, "Score One For the Bible." In it, archaeologist Kathleen Kenyon claimed Jericho's walls had fallen suddenly. Many scholars feel this was caused by an earthquake which may also explain the damming of the Jordan. Additionally, grain was discovered, which shows the city was conquered quickly. This find adds credence to the biblical account. Further study by Brian Wood found the date of the fall of Jericho to match the Bible's date.
In Ezekiel 26, which was written in 587 B.C., Ezekiel prophesies that the mighty city of Tyre would be destroyed. Tyre was made up of two parts, a mainland port city and an island city half a mile off shore. Ezekiel predicted mainland Tyre would be destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar, many nations would fight against her, the debris of the city would be thrown into the ocean, the city would never be found again, and fishermen would come there to lay their nets.In 573 B.C., Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the mainland city of Tyre. Many of the refugees of the city sailed to the island and the island city of Tyre remained a powerful city. In 333 B.C., however, Alexander the Great laid siege to Tyre. Using the rubble of mainland Tyre, he built a causeway to the island city of Tyre. He then captured and completely destroyed the city.
Today, Tyre is a small fishing town where fishing boats come to rest and fisherman spread their nets. The great ancient city of Tyre to this day lies buried in ruins exactly as prophesied. If we were to calculate the odds of this event happening by chance, the figures would be astronomical. No, it was not by coincidence. (7) dinosaur.
Being a trading power and having so much wealth also had its disadvantages. The city fell to invaders from Babylon in the sixth century B.C. Nebuchadnezzar, a notably ruthless king, laid siege to it for 13 years (585-573 B.C.) This is not counting offshore, where there are many wrecks and treasures, as well as the largest part of the city, dating from 551 A.D., which was destroyed by an earthquake. Divers have so far inspected a section of roads and marble columns, walls and corner stones belonging to commercial buildings which used to stand on the shore.
