Quest 1: YeRfDoGQuest 1: YeRfDoG

YeRfDoG tends to the woman, then lets his falcon scout out the roads, village and camp. He takes his weapons, questions the truth in the woman's words and questions her, then offers her shelter and protection and heads off. Enlisting yet more aid from the animals, he asks for any information they can provide. Once he reaches the village, he starts thinking about the best way to rid the land of the orcs. Afterwards, he will try to persuade the lord to allow fighting on the land.

This is also quite a complete reaction, nothing to add here. Experience coming up YeRfDoG ;)

Naturally, being of lawful good alignment *and* a Ranger means that I would not even consider refusing to help this woman and her unfortunate village.
First of all I would offer the woman some refreshment. After running twenty miles she would be very tired and probably thirsty. Secondly I would ask my falcon (I am falconer remember) to fly and scout out the area, relaying back to me what the Orcs are up to and what sort of a position the village folk are in.
Of course it would take some time for my falcon, the fast bird that he is, to fly twenty miles, survey the area and return. So I would get prepared for the event of battle. I would walk back to my dwelling in the woods and gather my cloak, longbow and shortsword.
At about this time I would start thinking about the credibility of this young woman's claims, repeatedly no reason to disbeleive her. She looks the part anyway. I would also ask her questions on her people's predicament, offer her what little clothing and shelter I could, while giving her the option of staying at my encampment while I looked in on her people.
The reason for this would be to keep her safe in the event of fighting with Orcs, and she seems good of heart anyway. I would also tell my friends, the animals of the wood to keep a close eye on her and keep her well.
Traveling to the outskirts of the wood, I would communicate with any animals that I could, asking them if they knew of these perilous Orcs, and what their reasons for harrasing the human village was. I had previouslly heard nothing of Orcs in the area, and it is mildly alarming that such loathsome creatures are again on the warpath.
Ideally, I would leave the woods and start to travel towards the village, by which time my falcon should have returned. Conversing with him in what events have passed and what are about too, I would think of a plan to hopefully prevent any loss of life, or human life at least.
Possibly taling out the Orc chieftan with a well placed arrow would be enough, sending the raiding party into leaderless confusion, I don't know...
Anyway, my main concern would be to prevent further harrassing of the humans by the Orcs. Settling a perhaps more beneficial agreement with the local landlord would come later, the main role would be to restore some degree of peace to the area, by resolving the pending conflict.
