| Zapper Guide Part 1
|
Among all of the different accessories available for the NES, the zapper was the accessory which I had loved since an early age. Every since we recieved our Nintendo for Christmas, we had SMB/DH and I sure loved playing Duck Hunt.
Sure, Duck Hunt was fun, but you may get tired of it after awhile. And that orange light gun of yours is swell, but there is alot neater NES guns out there as well. This guide is to be used as a reference on zappers and the few zapper games that there are. Section 1 features the varius types of zappers and section 2 features the best of the zapper games.

1985 Nintendo
Gray/Orange Variations
The zapper every NES gamer is sure to have. This zapper is cool for nostalgicnes, especially the "orange" flavor. The zappers work great, and every true NES fan has atleast one copy of each color zapper.

Nexoft
Built In Scope
Cordless
I remember when I found this baby at my local Funcoland for around $3 US. The Dominator Probeam is a neat NES zapper. It is cordless, running on 4 AA batteries. The built in scope allows for long range shots, and the trigger is very sensitive to the touch. The only downfall to Dominator Probeam is that the gun is heavier than the tradditional zapper, thus you get tired while playing Duck Hunt etc. A good zapper for the hunter in all of us.

Placo
Built In Scope
Cordless
The Video Shooter looks sourt of cool, the red and blue colors and the look gives this zapper a "sci fi" feel. The gun is cordless, and it has a built in scope though not as large as the Probeam's scope. The Video Shooter runs on 4 AA batteries, and every time you pull the trigger a red light lights up in tha back, adding to the "sci fi" feeling. The problem with the Video Shooter is that the reciever doesn't work all too well, thus it is hard to succeed in the zapper games using this lightgun. Pass this up unless you can snag it cheap.

Camerica
Pull Down Hammer
This is my favorite zapper ever made for US shores. It is the Video Blaster, made by Camerica. Video Blaster is light weight, and it is designed to look like a six shooter gun, complete with a pull down hammer, or whatever that thing is called. The one downfall is that this gun has a cord, but this doesn't stop it from being neat. This is the zapper I would personally recommend using.

This wraps it up for the zappers made for US Nintendos. There is a helmet zapper thing, made by Konami, but it isn't a "true" light gun thus I would recommend using it. Besides the fact that if you buy it used, the owner before you may have had headlice, and that would not be a pleasent experience. Now onto the zapper games.
