Dan and Harry
We all know Harry Potter- but how many of us know the name of Daniel Radcliffe?Daniel- who likes to be called Dan- is the actor who plays Harry Potter in the famous films.

Did you know that Dan and Harry are alike in some ways?
1. Dan and Harry were both born in July. They are growing up together- right now they're both in their early teens.
2. They both became famous at a young age.
3. Both of them are charming and yet modest.
4. Both wear specs [yes, Dan actually wears specs too!]
5. They have good friends who take their famous friend in their stride.
6. Each is an only child of his parents [of course, we don't know if a sibling of Harry's will turn up in a subsequent book- but if one does, remember: you read about it first at News for Kids!]

But there are some important differences too:
1. When he attends Hogwarts as Harry [read- acts as Harry!] Dan has to stop going to his own school
2. Dan has loving parents, both with him every step of the way. In fact, his dad's a literary agent and his mom is a casting director, so they know what life for actors is all about. Harry's parents, of course, though very loving, died when he was an infant.
3. Dan's pets are two dogs; as far as we know, he has not trained them to deliver messages! Nor does he have an owl like Harry's.
4. Dan wanted to be an actor since he was five years old; I wonder what Harry wanted to be when he was five? Probably- just free of his odious guardians!
Dan probably has more in common with you than he has with the fictional Harry Potter. He now goes to school - so filming is at a standstill- plays Playstation a lot, has his inconsistencies [likes to write but hasn't written a lot], his interests [football, music, running], his challenges [to be seen as a person apart from Harry, to do well at school], and his idiosyncracies [which his friends know best and aren't telling!]
