Sports camp
Yashodhara, entering 2nd grade, speaks to P. E. N- our news reporter

"I went to Riviera camp this summer. Riviera camp is a sports camp. This is the first camp I ever went to!
In the morning while we wait for other people to come, we play and read. When all the people arrive, the teacher calls people to go with one of the counselors. All the people she calls are in the counselor's group.

First we go to the golf course. If you hit the golf ball over the hill, you get a Mr. Freeze. A Mr.Freeze is a popsicle! When we're finished playing golf, we go to the tennis court and our counselor picks our tennis teacher. Everybody lines up. Whoever is first in the line gets to hit the ball three times to the counselor. If you're really good, you get to play jail or toilet washer.

During tennis, when the teacher sees that we're kind of tired, we get to go upstairs to our room and have a cookie-Gatorade break. Then you go back downstairs and play the rest of the tennis. Then you go back upstairs and do arts and crafts.

On the first day, the teacher cut a flag for us, and we got to decorate the flag. That was my favorite craft.

One day we didn't have arts and crafts. Instead of that we had yoga. The teacher showed us some pictures of a little boy doing yoga and we had to copy them all in one dance. I think it's called a dance. She also did the dance so we knew how to do it. It surprised me that I thought it would be really hard but it wasn't.

I was surprised when the yoga teacher said "Namaste". Namaste is a Hindi word, and it is like saying hello.

Then we have lunch in a cafeteria, watch television for a little while, change and go to the swimming pool.

We get out when the counselors say "It's time to get out of the pool!" wear our clothes, and then we go home.

I liked the camp because I played all kinds of different sports that I like."
