Keeping it Discreet

by Allison K. East

“Hey Daniel, sorry about missing the Daedalus… Really? ... Merlin was an Ancient? … So you’re going to Glastonbury to look for King Arthur’s treasure… Taking the Prometheus to scan… Sounds like fun.”

The woman on the phone grinned at her companion, her blue eyes twinkling. Rolling his brown eyes, her companion slid his arms around her from behind, and placed his chin on her shoulder, listening in on the conversation.

“Sorry Daniel, I won’t see you on the Prometheus, I have other things to do… I know Cameron will be disappointed. Tell him and Teal’c I said hi… Have fun… yeah, bye.”

As soon as she hung up, he spun her around in his arms to plant a quick kiss on her lips. “You have other things to do?” Jack O’Neill asked playfully.

Samantha Carter gave him one of her dazzling smiles. “I wasn’t going to tell him that the reason I’m not on the Prometheus is because I’m spending a few days with you.”

“Why not? I’m sure he’d understand. It is Daniel we’re talking about.”

“Yes, but he’d tell Cameron as well, and I’d rather not put him in that position. We are supposed to be being discreet, you know. Technically we’re still in the same chain of command.”

“I know, I know,” Jack grumbled, holding her a little tighter. “I just didn’t want to wait any longer.”

Sam linked her arms around his neck. “Neither did I,” she murmured, drawing his head down for another kiss.
